Tapping Meditation – From Overwhelm to Calm

Written by: Nick Ortner

I’ve got a little challenge for you today

Take FIVE minutes right now…

Choose ONE thing to think about and release, close your eyes, and just tap through all the points.

You don’t have to say anything out loud and you don’t have to get it perfect. Just choose one thing that has been stressing you out or worrying you and start to release it now.

You don’t even have to release all of it. Just start to let it go…

If you want some guidance, here’s a free Tapping Meditation titled “From Overwhelm to Calm”.

Use it whenever life feels like it’s a little too much for you, when you’re overwhelmed by a specific topic or issue, or any other time you’re struggling.

If you find it helpful, please comment and let me know below and be sure to share with your friends! 🙂

.

If you’re new to Tapping here is a short “How to Tap” video that walks you through the tapping points and gives you a good refresher. Enjoy!

My daughter introduced me to tapping. Couldn’t believe that it would work so well and so quickly. I find this meditation especially helpful in my present situation. Thank you so much.

  7. Marta says:

I started at a 10 after this morning’s DC shooting and dropped to a 4 by the end of the meditation. I’ll continue tapping to get it down to zero, of course, but I wonder if you could script a meditation for the sense of powerlessness, fear, loss of a sense of comfort, inability to make sense of these events, self forgiveness for the inability to cope with consequences of events no one has control over. We’re under siege by other people’s emotions. Although I adapted this meditation in some areas for my own relief, I would dearly love a full meditation. And, just as you have done such effective work in so many areas, can you take EFT tapping to our lawmakers in the House and Senate? They have felt — amazingly, for the first time — so much of what we have been feeling for so long. I feel such compassion for them. What can The Tapping Solution do to help them? Please, please try to get to them.

  8. Vaneira says:

This is one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received in my life. I will always be grateful. Thank you. I will use it every day. God bless you.

  9. Carol says:

Thank you, Nick. It was really helpful. I love your calming, confident voice.

  10. Carol says:

I realized how exhausted I am, and it doesn’t help when I keep trying to do too much. Sent a birthday e-card to my twin daughters, and realize it is hard for me to not have a way to talk with them, as they live now in Chile and Argentina, so it will be rare to have them come to the states for a visit. And we have a building inspection where I live next week. . I am still recovering from a molar tooth and root extraction. A lot going on for a single 72 year old woman. I do feel better, a bit calmer, just sharing this!

  11. Tina Miller says:

I’m trying to learn how to tap and glad to have had this meditation to help me learn. One question I had is what do you do when you’re really feeling overwhelmed and want to use tapping when you’re in public – like at a meeting or in a room with others?

    • Nick Ortner says:

Hi Tina. We are happy to hear that you are learning more about tapping and enjoying this meditation. There are some techniques you can use for tapping while in public.

One skill is to tap on the finger points by using the thumb of the same hand. If you’re not familiar with the finger points, on the left hand, you will find them on the right side of each finger where the nail connects with the skin. On the right hand, you will find them on the left side of each finger, where the finger nail connects with the skin. Traditionally, the ring finger is skipped, but if you like you can tap on that one as well.

Another tip is to place your fingers on one point while you consciously breathe in and out. The breath creates an energetic circuit that moves the energy in the points. Most people will use the chin point or collar bone point because it makes it appear as if they are simply thinking about something.

We hope these tips are helpful for you. Happy tapping! 🙂

  12. Gord Dunlop says:

Hi Nick, it’s Gord here and I wanted to thank you for the Tapping Solution and for the EFT/Tapping training in particular, Around a year ago I was diagnosed with a blood cancer. Yep, it scared heck out of me and I’ve started my own passive aggressive fight to head it off or at least hold it back and slow it down. So far so good. I’m eating better and have lost a few pounds – its a bit by bit process.

One of the problems I face is one of keeping my spirits up, because while there isn’t much discomfort now, its the fear of whats down the road. And thats where you and your band of merry men – or I suppose your band of merry persons – come in. And your timing is pretty much well timed. I’ve been tapping pretty much every day and sometimes every day, and It works so well for calming the anxious spirit. So I’m thanking you and Jessica foe your words of help and the calm, happy people behind the voices. You two ROCK ! Gord.Dunlop, British Columbia, Canada.

Financial burdens are causing panic attacks and feeling out of control. Losing my self worth and feeling generally sad. It starts in my head with thoughts and grows to a feeling of fullness in my stomach. Tapping seems to illivate this sense. It allows me to manage and work through this pain. I was introduced to this technique through the World Summit free annual publication. Bought your book and use it regularly. Thank you.

  25. Victoria says:

Hi Nick. I’m from the UK. I’d like to ask why does tapping make me want to go to sleep? It’s not really a problem as I am retired so there’s nothing to rush about. I’d just like to feel productive rather than sleepy.

    Thanks for your time.

    Victoria x

    • Nick Ortner says:

Hi Victoria. As tapping can be very relaxing, some people do feel sleepy after a tapping session. If you experience this all the time, you may want to try a different time of day or a different position to sit or stand in to see if that helps to make a difference. We also recommend you stay hydrated to help move the energy in your body as you are creating these shifts so that may help your energy. If you aren’t feeling a difference, you may want to tap for more energy after a tapping session or tap and ask your body what message you need to receive, if you are truly tired and need rest or if there is something else that you could do. We hope that helps! 🙂

  26. Sandy says:

Thank you so much for this meditation . . . the timing this morning was just what I needed to shift those anxious feelings from a 7 to a 3. Couldn’t pinpoint one thing that was bothering me, so I threw it all into the mix as you suggested and felt this serene calm wash over me which is just what I needed as I head off to work. 🙂

  27. Pat Peltomaki says:

How would you tab to release grief, sadness, and loneliness due to the loss of my spouse three months ago.

  28. Nancy says:

Thank-you SO much, Nick, as your meditation this morning was exactly what I needed to shift from an 8-9 in feeling overwhelmed to a 2! I had tears, as mostly the overwhelming feeling is sadness mixed in with lotz of ‘life’ happening! Losing a relationship I had thought and hoped was going to ‘last’…& thinking I am never going to find someone as I am 63 …..brings overwhelming sadness and longing. Now, after the meditation, I’m feeling calm and more hopeful! I have SO much to be grateful for—children and grandchildren, a job, health, family and friends….!

I bought the World Summit package and have been tapping almost every day and it IS working!! Thank you again! God bless you and Jessica!

    Sincerely
    Nancy

  30. Cathy says:

  31. Heather says:

Thank you Nick. Just what I needed this morning.

  33. Rosslyn says:

Hello my name is Rosslyn How does tapping line up with Christianity. Thank you Rosslyn

    • Nick Ortner says:

Hi Rosslyn. We have found that people of many different religions and spiritual practices find tapping helpful. Tapping is a stress relief technique and doesn’t impose any particular spiritual reliefs in the practice. You may find that tapping is a great addition to your prayers and affirmation practices as well. We hope that helps. If you have any other questions, please email contact@thetappingsolution.com for more information. 🙂

    • Nick Ortner says:

It’s up to you Julie! You can stay on one side, switch sides or tap with both hands on either side. Do what feels comfortable to you. 🙂

  44. Carina says:

Fabulous tool to overcome anxiety, Nick! Thanks for posting it free!

  45. Patti says:

I just posted a comment and then read through the previous comments. I’d like to say to Jeanine, #13, to please just keep on tapping even though you think it’s not working. In fact, say that as part of your set-up statement …. “Even though I don’t think that this tapping works at all, I love and respect myself, and choose now to continue tapping anyway.” Tapping will never harm you, and may be helping in ways that you are not aware of at the moment. Keep tapping, please! Sending you a warm hug and hope that you read this message at some point.

  46. Patti says:

My thanks and appreciation to you, Nick. The “overwhelm” tapping meditation was just what I needed. Am sure that I speak for many when I say that your gifts of these meditations are so helpful and so appreciated. If I knew how to get an emoticon onto this email, I’d put a bunch of hearts !!!!!

I can never thank you enough. I was introduced to tapping this past winter during a seriously challenging time. Tapping has helped me with anxiety (formerly crippling), insomnia, physical pain, feelings of being overwhelmed, and limiting beliefs in general. This is by far one of the most valuable tools I have ever come across in my journey toward enlightenment and abundant well-being. Bless You. I am eternally grateful.

  49. Geoffrey says:

Excellent meditation. Helps enormously. Many Thanks.
