Inspiration

Things change FAST…(this is funny)

Written by: Nick Ortner

I’m sure you had a good laugh watching this short video. I love the way they casually converse trying to figure this whole “internet” thing out. And now, of course, the internet, email, Facebook, Twitter, iPhones, iPads, Skype, is as normal as it gets!

Beyond bringing a smile to your face today, I’m sharing this video because I think it helps remind us that the world is changing so rapidly, and change that is that rapid tends to put new demands on ourselves and our lives.

The real question is, how are our souls, our spirits, our inspirations, that deepest part of us…keeping up with this change? And look, I’m not a technophobe, I love this stuff! But I also recognize that when I’m checking my email on the phone, just to see the latest little thing that might have happened or that needs to be handled, it might be going too far.

I recognize that perhaps it’s time to take those moments, to breathe, to tap, to access those parts of us that long to be acknowledged.

So if you find yourself moving a little too fast, being overwhelmed, running from thing to thing, take just a few minutes and do the short tapping round below. It’s not always about that huge, life-changing breakthrough (though it can be). It’s often about finding that space, that gap, that moment to CONNECT. To connect to ourselves, our family, our friends, our purpose, our planet.

Tap and see what happens…you’ll be surprised at the beauty that springs forth when you do so.

NOTE: Doing the short tapping rounds below can take as little as 60 SECONDS! Give yourself that time now – you deserve it!

If you’re not familiar with the tapping points and process, you can see a short video explaining it here.

Tapping Script
Tapping Points

Karate Chop: Even though I’ve been going too fast, I deeply and completely accept myself

Karate Chop: Even though I’m too busy and overwhelmed, I chose to relax and let it go now

Karate Chop: Even though the world is moving at lightning speeds, I chose to slow down now
Eyebrow: I’ve been going too fast
Side of the Eye: With way too much to do
Under the Eye: It’s hard to even take a breath
Under the Nose: With so much responsibility
Under Mouth: And so much to do
Collarbone: I’m too busy and overwhelmed
Under the Arm: And the world is moving too fast
Top of the Head: Moving too fast… Keep tapping on those same “negative” or “truth” phrases until you find that space, until that deep breath kicks in and your body begins to relax. Then move on to some positive phrases…

Eyebrow:
It’s safe to slow down
Side of the Eye: It’s safe to release this anxiety and stress
Under the Eye: I don’t have to rush
Under the Nose: Everything will get done in its perfect time
Under Mouth: I chose to let go of all this anxiety
Collarbone: And feel safe in my body now
Under the Arm: Feeling safe and calm in the world
Top of the Head: Feeling safe and calm in my body… right now

Until next time…

Keep Tapping!

Nick Ortner

This works for me. I use it to fall asleep. I rummage through my day or what is coming up on the next day and tell myself to take one day at a time. After tapping the routine 2 times I automatically take a deep breathe and I am sleeping in short order.

    They you Nick.

  2. Roseanne says:

Thank you, I enjoy all of the tapping phrases, I am not overworked at 75, I need to solve my insomnia.

Thank you for staying with us and sharing new tapping phrases. It keeps me interested and refreshed in tapping. Tapping has changed my life, it is such a great tool to cope with stress and deep hurts. I do find it hard to know what to say, so that’s why I appreciate it when you send these
    emails.

  4. Michelle says:

Thanks, Nick, for this short and very helpful tapping to slow down the freight train of life. Good timing for me right now!

  5. Vera says:

I took the above words and applied them to sleep. I have struggled with insomnia for years and the tapping has helped. I’ll continue to use it, and I thank you for all the information you provide.

Thanks Nick, I got a kick out of the video and naturally had to follow it back to YouTube and watched a few other videos chronicling the use of, hardware and soft ware and, the ancient appearing form of the computer, hard drive, screen, display and all text images.
This form of sidetracking which can cause hours to go by and a sense of accomplishing nothing – feeds the sense I have of never being able to catch up and engage fully in my life. It brought other computer related issues up for me…
…as everyone complains about the length of my Emails, Texts and voicemail messages. I’m out of sinc with the times now and with those who would be my friends as I spend more and more time at my computer or texting on my iPhone and sometimes like today never even get out of my PJ’s because I seem unable not choose to get outside and engage with the earth by even walking or touching down on it despite my love, health and spiritual commitment being dependent on getting out in nature.
I can’t keep from devoting hours of my time to composing responses to serious or marvelously joyful and concerning situations that my friends and family are in the midst of, or global issues, planetary, National, or state wide policies, goings on, challenges and craziness. Or, as you can see to this!
SOmetimes I even loose what I am writing and have to deal with the disappearance of a creative piece of writing in the form of text response that I spent hours composing and then it evaporates in thin air. (this happen on my phone hasn’t happened fora very long time using the computer.

anywho…I did the tapping adding in the particulars of my relationship with the internet information age and I did soon get to the deep sighs and think some clearing occurred. though I feel there’s a lot more here for me to tap through.
As the electromagnetic aspect has turned out to be my first addiction in this life and I am 68 years old! I’ve unintentionally become more and more isolated going from a super networker traveling in many circles, dancing 4 nights a week and in classes during the day to dancing once a week and possibly twice during the day if i’m lucky. I stopped hiking and participating in group meet-up hikes or otherwise, hardly go to concerts even the fabulous free ones put on by the faculty of the U of CO music department here. I’ve dropped out of the political and socially conscious and committed groups that i had been participating in and with. So I appear from the outside as unreliable, uncommitted. Out of sight and out of mind.
And it is more and more apparent that if I do not initiate contact by phone or otherwise with people who I used to think were friends, collaborators or at least acquaintances I would not hear from a living sole!
So I will continue to tap on this subject and see what shifts.
    Thank you again.

This is funny — yes, how the world has changed. Thank you for bringing these treats to us regularly through your e-mails! You remind us of what is truly important: kindness, compassion, forgiveness and love for ourselves, and a moment to tap gives a way to it. Thank you, Nick and team.

    Hi Nick,

Your timing was perfect, as I was about to catch up on my emails. Your name is always high on my priority list. Thank you so much for the laugh, and more importantly your tapping script. What a way to start my day. I live in Ireland, so it is early morning. I really appreciate your generosity.

After coming from Temeswar I am now in my home and told my parents that me and my friend have been to the votes for the president. Now we have just another week when we will go again. Sincerely I am interested mostly on conversations with God as otherwise it would go badly here around. Regarding tapping I love it and I hope that more and more people would practice it.

  17. joyce says:

Hi Nick, I like to imagine you sitting wherever you are as you type… connected to that “Internet” thingee as you type and search and do your work.. and these days most of us need it like we need our mind. I can relate to that retro video “What the hell is Internet anyway??” I still don’t really get it myself. How fast and far it goes… Then I realize that it’s like my mind. How fast and far will I let my mind go before I slow it down and go inside and connect with the Greatest Love of all!! Your script helped me take a breath, calm down, and go inside to experience what is beyond the internet and my mind… Thanks!

  29. Judy says:

I found you by accident (or was it?) Nick and then a friend bought a copy of The Tapping Solution for me. I have been SUCCESSFULLY tapping for a few weeks now.

I’ve tapped on resentment which was the reason I dislocated my knee on a tiny stair in a new house I wasn’t sure I wanted to live in. I’ve tapped on pain. I’ve tapped on weight loss and I’ve tapped on the simple joys that bring happiness to a person. I am a successful, much lighter, almost crutch-less, pain free and very happy individual who has nothing but thanks to extend to you.

Thank you for introducing tapping. I love tapping. It truly works.

  30. Gail says:

    My dear Nick…
I’d like to think it’s just that easy … But tell me… How do 56 years of morbid obesity and a completely dysfunctional childhood and life … And even being to depresses to try tapping .. How oh how could that help me nick.!
    God bless u.
(Geez ur a good lookin guy lol) it’s ok. Really .. I’m old enough to be ur mother .
    Be well
    Gail

  31. Lisa says:

These helps you send are like having my own therapist living in my home helping me handle the many issues I am trying to move past. Thank you for being there to guide me into my future.

  32. engemi says:

What a great minute this turned out to be. I was busy unsubscribing to every thing which will take me away from or interfere with my writing life when I got to your mail, Nick. I was going to save it for later, and then I felt something pressing me on … NOW, it said. So this will become my starting tap, whenever I sit down to write. Thanks so much 😉 and have a great day

  33. Nancy Adams says:

  36. Cyndi says:

Thank you for this and the many other great insights you share. I find that each time I tap I am instantly released of tension and the Yawning begins, It’s Great!
Keep it up and thank you.

  37. sue thompson says:

Thanks for this reminder. I am an Episcopal priest which in and of itself is a temptation to take on the cares of the world (literally!). This tapping sequence helped me recognize several things I have been trying to “fix” which are really beyond my control. I extended the sequence to remind myself that I am not in charge; I am not responsible for everyone’s safety and well-being. I can breathe now and move forward with my day. I am grateful.

  38. Susan says:

Wow, what a remembrance of how fast we have changed. My youngest was 12 at the time of that video and I remember forbidding the internet on our home computer. I love your book and tap daily. This is a nice addition for what I am going through now. Thank you

  39. Becky Olney says:

Thanks so much Nick, I look forward to these every day. And the 60 seconds really is awesome, felt that relaxation breath kick in by the time I completed the tapping on the top of my head, both times 🙂

  40. Sonja says:

Thank you for this! I care full-time for my dad, 85 with Alzheimer’s, 2 horses, 2 dogs, a job, a big house, and have been organizing large scale events for my favorite cause. I’m broke, burnt out, and feel I never get a chance to relax! Tapping has been a great way to acknowledge what I’m going through and calm down. Works when I do it…need to do it more!! Thank you so much for all your videos, information, and understanding of the human condition!

  41. Vesna says:

If it is going well, wondeful!, thanks!, sincerely, Vesna, Croatia

  42. Rb says:

New technology definitely has its pluses and minuses. On the plus side information is available instantly and whenever and where ever we want it. On the negative side information can be available while we are driving, not thinking and not feeling as well. Thanks to you, Nick and Jessica for introducing me to a powerful tool for transformation (tapping). I wish I could have used it in my clinical psychology practice, but since retirement working on myself is now my full time job. You and Jessica have found your passion and it shows. You guys rock!

  43. guided tapping says:

This is a great idea and I would like to see more of this on other topics. Nothing more valuable to the cause of tapping than to be guided with words!

  44. Adriana says:

    Hi Nick
Thank you, I ‘ ll start to do this short tapping to help my body, mind and spirit to calm and slow down, It is really important for myself to do so.

  45. Alexia says:

I am proud to say I still have a flip phone, and refuse to get a “smart” phone. Connection does NOT have to be instant and electronic. It DOES have to be with real people. I have no children, spouse, partner, or immediate family (thank goodness for my beloved dog), so connection with real people is even more important and often difficult. This tapping sequence helps me prioritize what is important — people — and to slow down enough to make sure this priority gets accomplished.

  46. Thank you nick says:

Thank you nick that was hysterical

  47. tracy says:

Thank you for this gift of insight. All that was important to me in 1994 was family, friendship and having a good time. Simple. Fun. I certainly didn’t have an email address or a mobile phone. If people wanted to contact me was by phone and I would get the message when I got at home. Are we too available now? Blessings to you.

  48. Joy Tennant says:

Hi Nick. What a powerful and potent Tapping Script you have chosen to share. This literally impacted and completely resonated for me. Really appreciate the positive
and beneficial outcomes that EFT provide. Thank you.

  49. Monika says:

Thank you very much for reminding me, everybody. So unwinding. Just what was needed.

  50. Martha says:

I enjoy the mails from you..I have to be reminded; It,s so easy, simple
I did the tapping and I felt all the tension leave my body
In the eighties I used a computer at work. We had one large room to hold the equip
    Of course no internet
    Thanks Nick
