Are Negative Thoughts Running Your Life?

Written by: Nick Ortner

The only way to get what you really want is to let go of what you don't want. - Iyanla VanzantWhat do you say or think about yourself? Are they words of affirmation, or do you often beat yourself up? Did you know that 80% of the average person’s thoughts are negative? Is it any wonder why so many of us struggle to create the life we desire?

But it IS possible! And it starts with identifying those limiting thoughts and beliefs and then eliminating them.

During one of our previous Tapping World Summits, my sister Jessica had the incredible opportunity to interview Iyanla Vanzant, star of the hit TV show “Iyanla: Fix My Life.”

In it, she shares valuable insights on how to purge toxic thoughts and emotions. Today, I’m excited to share this video with you!

Years before Iyanla became a TV star, she was stuck in patterns of toxic thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.

Coping with trauma from childhood abuse, she was punishing herself emotionally, struggling financially with a poverty consciousness, and just stuck in a pattern of low self-worth.

But she learned how to overcome these thoughts and feelings, to create a life full of abundance, joy, and love.

Some of the things Iyanla will share with you in this interview include:

  • How she started using Tapping to change her life nearly 15 years ago, and why she still loves this technique for creating personal change. (She also uses this technique with guests on her show, even though it’s not always shown!)
  • Why it’s important to increase your emotional library to be able to express and release stuck emotions.
  • The power of LOVE! Why she believes that there is no wound deep enough that love cannot heal, and how you can make the difficult shift to finally loving and accepting yourself.
  • How to overcome lack consciousness. Iyanla struggled with finances even when she was earning over a million dollars a year! She’ll explain why you need to shift your energy and beliefs around money in order to be able to create abundance, regardless of how much you’re earning.
  • The difference between creating a boundary and a wall (hint: most people create walls, not boundaries).
  • And much more!

This is a heartfelt, laugh-out-loud video that I know you’ll love.

Until next time…

Keep Tapping!

Nick Ortner

Such a great interview! Thank you Jessica!
It’s amazing to me how so many of us suffer with our self worth. Such a simple yet not so simple thing that can change our lives if we just release the judgements we make upon ourselves and of others! I love tapping and think it is so profound the results we can get from it when we do it! Tapping should be the new thing to do at parties instead of alcohol and drugs! The high from tapping a lot can make you naturally giddy with life! And it’s free!

  6. Linda says:

I used to do tapping years ago. Then I went to see a lady that was very into it. I spent a full day with her and by the time we were finished I was just so charged with anger it took me two weeks to come down from it. It was so intense it put me off and I have never tried it since then. Recently I have noticed quite a few articles about tapping and wonder if I should give it another go. How do I start, any advice.

    • Nick Ortner says:

Hi Linda. We are sorry to hear you weren’t happy with your initial tapping session. It is not unusual for anger and other emotions to surface, especially when you are first starting and/or doing a lot of intense work. Should that happen, keep doing more tapping on what is coming up so you can process and release it.
We recommend you start where you are. If you aren’t sure what to tap on, you may want to use one of our resources, such as Jessica’s stress relief audios: https://www.thetappingsolution.com/jessica-ortners-stress-relief-audios-free-download/. Start slow, take your time, be sure to stay hydrated and get plenty of rest to allow your body to process the energy shifts and see what comes up for you that could use some clearing. If you need other resources or have more questions, please email contact@thetappingsolution.com so our customer service team can assist you. We wish you all the best! 🙂

This was absolutely wonderful and heart warming. I know that tapping is valuable but i procrastinate this has also been a great reminder for me to wake up. I bought the entire series in 2010 but do not practice on a regular basis at all. I have been able to see how i have been hypnotizing myself and postponing. I am glad to be reminded about toxic energy. Most of all i loved the tapping for the trust prayer. blessings to you all.

  8. Kathy says:

Thank you Iyanla and Jessica! I listened to the world summit and started tapping. I am working with a lot of emotions and trying to align and clear my energy. I know this tapping works.I am dealing with the part that Iyanla says 1/2 of me wants to stay the same, the fear. The other half wants to change more for the good. I am so Thankful for all the things that are happening to me. I am going to continue to tap and I am going to teach this to every person who is open to tapping, especially children. God Bless you Nick for everything you do to help all who want to change their lives by getting rid of so many emotions that keep us stuck in anxiety, grieve, anger, sadness, depression and chronic pain!!!!!!!

    so beautiful momentum

  13. Thank you Nick & Jessica says:

I had the good fortune to be introduced to EFT (Tapping) some 20+ years ago, and to Iyanla as well.
The video is GREAT. I am a wellness researcher and educator. This is easy for most anyone to understand and apply in it’s presentation. I also participated in your summits, purchased one, read all your e-mails sent to me. I am so pleased to have a chance to comment without using the social media usually relegated to. This is very timely for me as well. I’ve learned much from both Jessica and Iyanla through the video and about myself. 1) stop and think about the why before moving on to my next action. 2) Be more consistent with my tapping

  16. Michele says:

So beautiful. Thank you two loving women for doing what you do so well. ❤️

  17. Lyubka says:

I think this was my third time listening to this interview with Iyanla and it moved me to the core. The penny dropped with a thunder. This time I felt in my bones how big forgiveness truly is; and how silly we act just because we are unconscious; and how all is well regardless.
Thank you, Jessica and Iyanla and bless you both!

  18. Valerie Ellis says:

    WOW!! I really needed that!

  19. Elizabeth Sainz says:

Thank you for sharing this gloriously rich and downright funny video. I especially loved ending with the tapping and praying together as a way to send the viewer out into the day so refreshed and recharged. Love and Blessings to you All, I am praying for all of you!

  21. Melissa Massey Josephson says:

Tapping and Nick Ortner for me has been “a cool idea” but I continue to receive emails, scan them and say to myself I just don’t know if it will work or how to do it on my own. For some reason, today, I was drawn to this interview. So first of all THANK YOU! The vulnerability was profound and almost every topic mentioned as examples I can really relate to. That makes it more real for me. And finally, thank you for sharing your stories and how to get rid of or change them. I have come to recognize some of what I believe is a story, but not all, and this is the encouragement I needed.

Beautiful beautiful ladies, souls, and spirits! I am so grateful for this interview and information to harness the healing myself. Namaste xo

I sure need to take up Tapping to experience what Iyanla talks about. It’s exciting….

  24. Sharron says:

Wow – this was a great birthday gift to me. God has helped me take pauses, but so much food for thought and easily digested in this interview. Lovely ladies, thank you.

Thank you!! Just amazing soul you are truly blessed.

  28. Dave says:

NICK…..THANK YOU for Jessica’s EXCELLENT interview with Iyanla…..Jessica’s questions were EXCELLENT…..and, of course, Iyanla’s tapping responses were very perceptive. I have been tapping with various providers for almost 10 years….I am now 81…and I need some help to get myself to where tapping WORKS (on some core issues for me!)…..Would you, please, be kind enough to recommend a book, provider, etc….that helps me to make just one breakthrough? Your “Summits” have been very helpful…..something in me causes tapping NOT to work for me……THANK YOU, NICK for the EXCELLENT job YOU do….and, I’m looking forward to your new book in October….but I need to do some work…that works…with tapping, now!
    Gratefully,
    Dave Bause

    • Nick Ortner says:

Hi Dave. We are glad you enjoyed the interview! Everyone is different so the breakthroughs come from different resources and different tapping sessions. We recommend you get as specific as possible and really tune into your body to get in touch with what you are feeling and experiencing when you are tapping. The more personal and connected to you that it is, the better. Working one-on-one with a practitioner can really help but we don’t have one specific person we would recommend. We do have practitioner listings on our site if you are interested in taking a look. Here is the link: https://thetappingsolution.com/eft-practitioners/. Finding someone who specializes in what you want to work on and making sure it is someone you feel comfortable with and resonate with can really make a difference so do some keyword searches and see who you feel a connection with and go from there. Thank you for your support. We hope you enjoy the new book and we wish you all the best with your tapping journey. 🙂

  29. Kylie says:

Great interview. Some realisations came to me about my father which were very powerful. You guys amaze me so much with the quality of material that you present and the impact it has on me. So grateful. Xxx

  30. Hope says:

Thank you for sharing this and being so vulnerable Jessica and Iylana. New to tapping and this is the first video I was drawn to. It resonated so much with me – about releasing the toxic energy in order to be able to invite in positive energy. As I pause between life stages and between jobs, in those middle spaces, this is going to be a great tool in my personal spiritual toolbox.
