Adventures with Jessica Ortner – When Everything Seems To Go Wrong!

Written by: Jessica Ortner

Jessica Ortner and husbandI was tossing and turning last night. I think I was nervous about this podcast. I’ve never been so candid and shared so much. It’s totally unscripted. I just sat in front of the microphone and pretended I was talking to my closest friend about the last year. I talk about moving across the country, crying in the car outside the emergency room, and falling in love with this man.

The reason I share so much is that I feel it’s so important to not judge ourselves when we are having a hard time. If you’re sad, it’s okay. If you’re in pain, it’s okay. The more okay we are with ourselves (regardless of our circumstance) the freer we feel. That is the true power of tapping. It allows you to find moments of peace and acceptance that transform your life.

What if what you’re feeling and going through right now is exactly what you need to lead you to something better than your greatest dream? Trust the process, trust life, and no matter what, have your own back. Be your own friend. Change comes from compassion, not self-criticism. That’s when your life opens up to miracles.

Jessica, thanks for being so open and honest about your life. It was especially comforting to hear you talk about how you dealt with your pain, that you couldn’t just “tap it away” – panic and fear are part of that, and until we’re able to calm ourselves a little, it’s tough to think clearly. That kind of honesty brings a real authenticity to your teaching. Great podcast, and I wish you and your beau much happiness.

Lovely Jessica, sooo very happy for you, I’m a long time fan of yourself and Nick and part of the Tapping tribe, bought the program when it first came out. You are so open and sincere it’s refreshing love is wonderful especially this initial period and it gets better so enjoy. You sound so happy and you so deserve to be as you and Nick help so many people I see this as your just rewards.
Blessings, love an light – it’s your turn!!!!

How refreshing and so real! I am a coach and healer myself and often wonder if others go through as much learning and challenge when not on stage or with clients :). I have done very tough emotional processing work for so long, my body is doing to me what you are describing. I felt so “not alone”, thank you for your vulnerability. I sat down in my comfortable lazy boy chair, doing my nails and trusted my intuition to listen to some of your and your brothers links in order to get more serious on tapping again and there you were sharing so deeply. I am feeling better already ! I strongly believe that sickness has a meaning and can be an opportunity. I also believe nothing happens by chance !

Dear Jessica. That wonderful candid talk about where you are in your life right now completely made my day! I love the message to just be ok with whatever is going on in your life,it,s hard to not judge yourself and your honesty is what I needed to hear today. Most importantly love that you are in love! I am a die hard romantic so picturing you and your significant other in the house with a view is pretty sweet. Thanks for sharing and we will keep listening.

  13. Kattalina says:

Great story since I too am going thru something similar. The Northrup bit was well appreciated bc i am having 5o learn how to deeply trust. I too am question many of my recent decisions that haven’t panned out. First Chakra issue ..ME TOO in a very big way. Mine has to do with my back and walking. I too sort of left my family and everything I knew. …
tx for this. I at least know that others have survived in similar situations ! I feel less alone.

  14. Debbie H says:

Thanks so much for your openness and sharing. The Hay House Summit where I first encountered you and tapping and so many other folks and ways of thinking has opened an amazing universe to me. While being decades older, I too have been making huge transitions in the past year and so much of what you shared touched home. Thanks for being willing to be you so publicly.

  15. Danai says:

Thank you so so much for sharing this Jessica! It is such an inspirational story and I needed to hear that right now because i am in a storm and i know i should keep trusting life and taking care of my body but it really is difficult to stay positive sometimes. Now I know I heard this podcast in the right moment to remind me that it will be ok :)thank you!

  16. Dorothy says:

I enjoyed the podcast too. But like Linda Taylor said it was hard to hear spots. You voice drops in places kinda like the mic was too far from your mouth, and sometimes I hear several words jumbled together.
I have had that type of pain and I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. I also had gallbladder pain, and had that removed.

  17. Name (required) says:

thank you Jessica for sharing your story. I always thought that you had everything so together. It is very helpful to know that you also struggle in life’s decisions. Tapping has helped me thru some difficult issues in the past and now I feel I must get back on track, hearing your story has given me the encouragement that I need to get started on track again.

    Bless you.

  18. Judy says:

Thank you Jessica for your podcast which was amazing. I acknowledge your courage to step forward with faith on your journey wherever it will take you. Such an inspiration.

  19. Lynda Crossett says:

Thank you Jessica for being so candid. I have gained so much from your pod cast., mostly to be patient. I have moved away from all my family and feel alone and separate from them. I know this is where I am supposed to be right now I’m not sure of the reason. As patience is a virtue I look forward to my own happy ending and finding my place.

I loved listening to your blog. I discovered you and Nick last year and love tapping. It has made me a calmer person. I had wondered about your journey to California and what has happened to you. I am very happy for you. Enjoy yourself and take time to enjoy your surroundings. I live in northern California and hope you are happy here.

  24. Debbie says:

Awesome, Jessica! I am in Oregon and also feeling a pull to move to California, but I am afraid to leave home. I have lived here forever. Your story was very helpful. Sweet!!!

  25. Wendy says:

Thank you for your courage in sharing all of that Jessica. I think SO many of us can identify with your struggles! I’m 46 years old and I’m STILL learning to listen to my body and take care of myself when I really need it. Whenever I start pushing myself too hard, getting too stressed or overwhelmed, the first place it shows up is in my body. Some kind of health crisis will pop up…sometimes in really bizarre ways that make me go “where the heck did this come from??” haha Thankfully, I’ve gotten really good at being my own best detective. As soon as I notice some weird physical symptoms I immediately start asking, “Where have my emotions been lately? How much have I been working lately? Have I been making time for meditation, sleep, tapping…?” That usually shows me the contributing culprits and I know what to do to “fix” the problem. So happy for you with your new love. Everything happens for a reason! Wishing you both many blessings!
