This Video is THAT good…

Written by: Nick Ortner

I’ve seen this video at least ten times in the last couple of years.  You probably have too…(and if you haven’t, you’re in for a real treat…)

I ran across it after not having seen it for a while, and it made me happy all over again.  It is moving, beautiful, revealing and more..

It reminds us of the depth of human possibility and that it’s never too late for our dreams to come true.  It reminds us of how easy it is to be judgmental and, while it’s cliché to say, how often we “judge a book by its cover.”

What an up lifting video, if we just belive.

  2. Elizabeth says:

Susan is without doubt one of the most beautiful manifestation of the Spirit in all its magnificants and glory I have had the absolute Blessing to be witness to.Spirit shows itself in many many different ways and she has touched the hearts of millions. I hope humanity can take a lesson from this, how are judgements are of no value whatsoever and that there is beauty in everything if only we can open our eyes and hearts to see.

  3. Amanda says:

    Goodmorning,
again I was aware that everthing is possible, provided that everything has a right (and divine) time. Even if you have to wait several years…….is n’t that GREAT ??!!!

  4. Uma Ramanathan says:

yes, we jump to conclusions and have preconceived notions that color our vision. it feels good to accept that we cannot be always right and that surprises are the essence of life

  5. Marypat says:

Fantastic! I teach Vocational Ed. for adults – when they are discouraged at their ability to learn new things I bring on this video to cheer them on! Always inspiring, and I pray that Susan Boyle’s dreams continue to be blessed with her amazing impact on us all!

  6. Sandy says:

It is so refreshing in life, when we have become so jaded and judgemental, to be surprised and humbled at small treasures of beauty such as Susan Boyle. I admire her courage and her spunk and the beauty and depth of her song. I watched it again and again and each time it was more beautiful than before. Thank you for the reminder.

  7. Karen says:

Thanks so much for sending this out. I watched with tears and goosebumps (again) and am reminded not to judge by appearances and to believe in myself! I am so happy for this woman!

  8. Rene' says:

Had not seen this video before, but had heard a little about Susan Boyle’s story. Finally glad I got to see it. The video, her voice, her success–all Beautiful!. Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Nick. The video brought tears to my eyes.

  9. Lisa says:

Susan Boyle & before her Paul Potts had the guts to get up there knowing everyone was against them, laughing at them because they dont have the right ‘look’. Yet they had the courage to go ahead, risk being laughed at, and do it. Thats a lesson in itself that I can learn from. It is moving every time I watch it. I love musicals & she did that song justice! The amazing power of believing.

  10. Ana says:

People who stomp all over other people’s dreams probably have few of their own. Applause to the judges for calling out their own judgment on national / international television.

  11. Mychelle pycha says:

Nick thanx for sharing. It is sad to say, but it is woders such as this instance that provide wake up calls for many. Most if not all, will have thought the day of hearing, passed to others their experience, but only a few will truly see.

Having said that, it starts with a glimpse or profound moment.

    Infinite love and gratitude.
    Mychelle

  12. Donna says:

Thanks so much for reminding me how moving this was… Tears in my eyes… The best part was the turning of the judges and audience to Susan’s talent…

  13. Bob O Link says:

Saw this before, and again it bought me to tears>>>> She sings like an ANGEL

  14. Sandra says:

This is the first time I have seen this vidio and it was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes, I absolutley agree with Michael Simon’s post, it was nice to see the judges recognize their own predjudice (pre-judge). Predjudice is way too common in the world today. Thank you for posting this inspiring clip.

  15. Bobbie Parrott says:

I had heard of Susan Boyle but had never seen this video so thanks for the opportunity. It touches deep into the heart and draws forth love and happiness. What a winner she is. Thank you so much.

  16. Yvette says:

Nick, I had never seen this video before, even though I had heard about it at the time. I just sat here and cried. So lovely! My dream is to believe in myself that much. I am on my way.
Thank you for all your emails and all the work you and your sisiter do.
    Much love.

  17. JUANITA says:

EVERY TIME I SEE THIS IT BRINGS TEARS OF JOY!!! WE ALL LIKE TO SEE WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE UNDERDOG WIN. SUSAN WAS NOT AN UNDERDOG SHE WAS AN INSPIRATION TO US ALL. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS AGAIN.

  18. Soraya says:

I have seen it before, but i just cried again. Wow amazing.

  19. Joe Wagner says:

    You made me cry again

  20. Michael Simon says:

Since the first of MANY times I have seen this video, it still brings me tears of happiness and respect. I also love the recognition by the judges of their being judgemental because it shows their humbleness to admit their own errors.
Thanks you so much for giving me another opportunity of watching this video and this beautiful song which I have heard with Celtic Woman and Hayley Westenra (solo)
    Michael

  21. Chaya says:

This brought up memories when I first started teaching seeing new students every year you could always know exactly who is who but one year there was a student who i thought nothing of by a scale that I always measured and to my surprise turned out to be a valedictorian student from that moment on each of my students were always always always given the benefit of the doubt and then so many surprises I received when I stoopped judging that was 34 years ago!! we are all created equal before the lord we should always be given chances equally – never judge or you will be judged that is a universal law.

  22. cheang says:

this is the power of spirit, presence, love, god life, and I´m so glad to be able to take this tiny part of it, that I have a chance to acknowledge and spread it here, thank you susan Boyle, and the space here, Cheang

  23. wendy says:

thank you for this reminder….love this

  24. Donald Knight says:

As the one judge said: what a wake-up call!! I’ve watched this before, but could do so again and again…also check out the youtube clip of the homeless Korean boy.

  25. Pamela says:

A total thrill each and every time I have seen this video. Yes I do believe we all have talent but I don’t need to have it that public to know it. That is what she wanted and she got it Bravo for her. I know what I want and am on my way to having it too. Thank you for sharing this again it is very, very exciting!!

  26. Thelma says:

I loved that performance and that song!! Thank you Nick for this…I needed a reminder like this. I am inspired and my dreams have been revitalized.

  27. Patricia Grace says:

I have seen it several times and I cried all the way through.

  28. Thandie says:

For me it just showed me that we all have success ingrained in us , we just have to want something enough and commit to do what it takes.

  29. anjali agrawal says:

    Dear Nick,
Thank you for the wonderful video. It made me cry. We all have a hidden talent. We only need to find it and when the opportunity knocks our door go forward and welcome it and capture it. It was very inspiring.Hats off to Susan…..

  30. Lorena Holmstead says:

Thanks for posting that video of Susan Boyle! I saw it years ago and loved it then. Her delight and enthusiasm is what struck me this time. Loved it!

  31. Monty Maizels says:

Thanks. Nick, for bringing this back for our attention.
The strongest positive emotional reaction I ever feel when watching film, is when an undeservedly despised or victimised character is finally vindicated.

I don’t know how many times I have seen ‘Singin’ in the Rain’ but the final scene where Gene Kelly calls after Debbie Reynolds, fleeing the theatre after being humiliated: “Stop that girl. She’s the REAL star of the show!” gets me every time.

Seeing Susan Boyle triumph over initial prejudice once again brought tears of joy to my eyes in the same way.

  32. Sue says:

I’m about the same age as Susan, and was aware of her story, although I have never seen this video before. Like Susan, I have a minor disability, and have long been aware of people making uninformed judgements of my capabilities, so learned not to judge others, instead let them show me who they are. This video really makes obvious the narrow minded judgementalism of mainstream people. I have many (smaller scale) experiences of people – especially in workplaces – revealing their negative judgements when they are surprised I did something well. We can be as non-judgemental as we like, but others still judge capability by appearance. So wrong! It’s great to see this video still waking people up. Sad that they still need waking up

  33. Michele Grimes says:

Never give up on our dream, never!

  34. Linda Frank says:

I remembered how important it is to believe in oneself and to step out and to dare to be seen.
    That was an awesome performance!!!

  35. Marla says:

WHAT a great reminder – thanks for sending this, Nick. It would have been enough just for her (and the rest of us) to experience that night; but to know that she is world famous now and that her dream was realized ….that is truly inspirational. Understanding that it’s the small niggling fear in everyone who mocked her that *made* them mock her. It reminds me that we’re all here together and each of us has a gift of some sort –never wise or kind to mock because it reveals that fear for what it is: Feelings of unworthiness that are unfounded.

  36. Suzy says:

Thank you for the reality check…I loved it, and needed a reminder.

  37. Catherine says:

It makes me cry every time. Makes me feel like with her courage that perhaps my dreams too can come true. I don’t know who I would admire more. Amazing.

How do I save this video to watch anytime in the future?

  38. Reuben says:

How often we need to see something like this. We forget so very often what great un-opened treasures we have inside. If we can battle through the fear as Susan did, we can open the gifts and use them, not only for ourselves, but , more importantly for the good of the world.

  39. Jessita H. Zabala says:

Nick, thanks for keeping the fire of hope and enthusiasm burning in our heart. Susan exudes her inner beauty with confidence. So inspiring!!!

  40. Colleen says:

It was absolutely fabulous to watch again after a long time. I have tears in my eyes as I write and thank you Susan Boyle for bringing so much inspiration in to day today. I spirit has been uplifted beyond words. Her courage and self-belief of her dream. It was also another reminder to me and my own ‘judgements’ that I have around people and ‘things’. Yes indeed = “Never judge a book by it’s cover”. Thanks Nick for sharing this beautiful video with us all again!

  41. lisa says:

  43. Kim says:

    Thanks for sharing.

  44. Gavin D. Smtih says:

What a complete pleasure to hear such a beautiful voice, and sung by a truly remarkable lady.
Thanks so much to Britain’s Got Talent for giving Susan Boyle the change to show the world her wonderful talent.

  45. Mairi says:

This video I have seen multiple times, but it’s so good I never tire of it! What a surprise it was to everyone! Gives a valuable lesson in judging people!

  46. Trinidad says:

I have seen this over 20 times and I never cease to be thrilled, inspired, humbled, uplifted, and then my mind goes still… let us always remember to stop the judgment… see the human being and honor the soul! Bless you, Susan Boyle for reminding us to remember that we are not any of us who we appear to be!

  47. Camila says:

What a lesson Susan Boyle gave us. Usually we tend to disregard and mock individuals judging them on first appearance without giving it a thought of how great that person’s spirit is.
And many talented people do not dare show their greatness for fear of being mocked at. Susan had the guts of confronting this audience, and sure enough she came out triumphant. Isn’t it graeat? How many of us are still scared of doing what we can do best out of fear of what others might think? Who cares what they think? It’s what we think of ourselves that matters and it’d better be positive thoughts

  48. Jules says:

Thanks for sharing. I had not seen the full audition until now, but I knew who she was. It brought tears of joy to my heart and makes me think of how unfortunately, society in general judges a book by its cover no matter what. How we so have to change that about ourselves! Love for no reason starts within us. Thanks again!

  49. Endru says:

Well I’m grateful for Susan’s heroism. With which she nurtured her gift – despite nearly everyone. Till she might have felt like “It’s time”. What a shine! Thanks everyone who helped her message to land on my desktop. To remember long.
    = Andrew

  50. Nick says:

This video which I have seen a number of times continues to inspire with many feelings and emotions. Everything from not judging a book by its cover to never giving up on ones dreams and aspirations. Its laughing in the face of diversity, and touches the heart in a way that makes you want to cheer on the under dog to succeed. Most important it humbles the best of us and gives us faith and hope to believe in the endless possibilities that present themselves in Life, thank you for sharing this with us.
