Love, Accept, and Forgive Yourself

Just a few weeks back, I was in Philadelphia speaking at the Hay House I Can Do It conference, and a lovely lady came up to me and said…

“I saw you speak last spring in Toronto, and at that time, I was looking for positive words to use as a tattoo, an inspirational message to myself. After that presentation, and using Tapping to change my life, I knew exactly what they should be.”

She then showed me her left hand. What I saw just blew me away…

Love.

Accept.

Forgive.

One basic variation of the setup phrase in Tapping that I use a lot is, “Even though…. (Fill in the blank with the problem/challenge/emotion)… I love, accept and forgive myself.”

I’ve seen people break down in tears just saying that phrase.

I’ve seen people only able to barely mumble it out, or not say it at all.

And I’ve seen the healing power of that phrase, with the tapping, time and again.

There’s something magical about that combination.

Step 1: Acknowledge the problem.

See the dirt. “This is who I am.”  “This is how I feel.” Or at least, “This is what I’m thinking right now. This is the truth of my current experience.”

Step 2: Accept yourself.

Accept yourself with that truth while doing the tapping, and thus calming the amygdala, the “fight or flight” response center in the brain.

You can get miraculous results in your life from doing just that. Again and again.

This lovely lady (and please email me with your name, since we only caught each other in passing, so I can send you a little thank you gift for your message), had literally imprinted those powerful words on her Tapping hand.

Now, you don’t have to go and get a tattoo to have this work! But while it doesn’t have to be tattooed in real ink for everyone, it can be tattooed in spiritual ink.

As you tap, imagine your hand has those words written in spiritual ink. And don’t just say the words, but feel them.

How does it feel to love yourself? (and it doesn’t have to be 100%, completely, every part of you; it just has to be a little more than when you started)

How does it feel to forgive yourself? (and it doesn’t have to be 100%, completely, every part of you; it just has to be a little more than when you started)

How does it feel to accept yourself? (and it doesn’t have to be 100%, completely, every part of you; it just has to be a little more than when you started)

Those 3 words can change your life, TODAY.

Imagine that spiritual ink, on your skin and running through your veins.

I love, accept and forgive myself.

    The tapping is good and easy to do but i find the wordings for each section of the tapping very difficult to process

    I bought all of Louise Hay’s books yrs ago. Listen to her morning and evening meditation daily. I started tapping a few months ago and the results have been amazing. I suffer from generalized anxiety. Had a very traumatic childhood as there is a genetic predisposition to mental illness on my mother’s side of family. I am 68 yrs old and all the self help books and counselling over the years were not as powerful as tapping. I always would tell myself a few times daily, I love and accept myself, exactly the way I am. It’s only since I have started tapping daily, that I started to see changes happening in me. Recently, I was going through a rough time with a sibling going through depression. I told my husband, that without the daily tapping, I would not have handled the situation so well. Louise started me on this journey. I live in Canada. I am so grateful I picked up a magazine in a fitness store about a tapping coach. After 6 visits, I joined the insiders club and voila, I am the happiest I have been since the age of 5. Thank you Nick, Jessica and Alex. I will add to I love and accept myself, “I LOVE ACCEPT AND FORGIVE MYSELF.” After reading your article, I realize I am sometimes to hard on myself Thank you so much.

    I do not know what happened but as soon as I read “love, accept and forgive myself” I burst into tears. I did tap and I realized that I hate myself for my current situation. I know I only have myself to blame but I do not know that I hate myself. After tapping, I felt relieved.

    I have been searching for something that can help me getout of my troubles. Been buying a lot of programs which promises help but they are just there. I used once and stopped then once in a while will use it. Since I am not consistent, of course, it did not work. Same thing happened when I bought the 7-week program for Financial Success and Personal Fulfillment. I did it once and stopped. But last night, I finally decided to get help so I sent an email and I received the tapping on procastination. I think it helped because I am writing this comment 🙂

    I look forward to your emails, because I am able to use them EVERY time! Things pop up for me to tap on and work through. I am forever grateful to you for your work and how you are so willing to share it! I started tapping years ago after I read “Tapping the Healer Within ” by Roger Callahan. I made the mistake of loaning it out. But I love the tweaking that has been done to better it. Thank you again!

    Just what I needed today. I’ve been working on forgiving myself the part I played in the failure of my marriage, as my spiritual advisor and I believe it is the lack of forgiveness that keeps me in “avoidance” mode for any future soulmate experience. I’m making strides. I am also using your Tapping Tree to examine my beliefs around avoidance. I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for the part you and Tapping play in my liberation.
