How to Use Tapping to Create Financial Success

When I surveyed over 10,000 people a few years ago, guess what the number one issue was that they said they wanted to work on was? You guessed it… their finances.

You see, money has the ability to be either a thorn in your side that makes you feel like you’re bleeding out and unable to live life fully every day, or it can be something that gives you the freedom to do what you want, live how you want, and help family, friends and even strangers in ways that you never thought possible.

For most people it’s a thorn in their side and unfortunately it’s for reasons that they can’t see and don’t know about. That’s definitely how it was for me.

You see, what I didn’t realize when I went through year after year of struggling financially was that there were two huge issues that I didn’t see were affecting me so gravely…


The Two Major Reasons That People Struggle With Their Finances… 


The 1st major issue around your experience with money is financial beliefs, traumas and unconscious beliefs that are holding you back. Like most people, I wasn’t even aware of the unconscious wiring I had and how it was affecting me.

I know what you may be thinking… yeah, I’ve heard about “personal development” stuff like this before where they say you need to go inside and change your patterns. And for years, that’s exactly what I was going through. I would go from one course to another learning about how I had to change my beliefs and change myself on an unconscious level, but the issue was always… “Well, how do I do that?!”

It wasn’t until I found Tapping that I finally found a simple and extremely effective way to change what was affecting my ability to earn more money on a deep unconscious level…

Figuring out if you have any money blocks is really simple… just ask yourself, “Am I making as much money as I’d like to?”


If the answer is No… then you have some money blocks. It’s as simple as that…

Just take a look at your financial situation. If you have any money issues, if you struggle to pay any of your bills, or if you’re just stuck at an income level, not able to grow as quickly as you’d like to… then you have unconscious blocks that are preventing you from being where you want to be financially.

For me, I remember that I was stuck in a pattern of just getting by, then struggling and building debt, then catching up on my debt and just getting by again, and then repeating the cycle, only each time the debt I would get into would get higher and higher.

When I was in a million dollars of debt after my real estate business crash, it unfortunately wasn’t the first time I’d been in debt. I’d been through the pattern of building up debt before.

And it was because of the unconscious patterns that I kept running. It wasn’t until I started using Tapping that I was able to change those patterns.

When I look back at the things I was doing back then to block myself and sabotage myself they seem silly… but at the time I couldn’t see what was going on.

And that’s likely the way it is for you. You probably can’t see the patterns that you’re running that are keeping you stuck.

The 2nd major issue around your experience with money, is STRESS, because that’s what stops us on an everyday, moment-to-moment basis.

Stress, of course, can show up in many forms—anxiety, worry, insomnia, low energy, procrastination, even other health issues.

When I was going through all of the financial issues I went through, coming out of over a million dollars of debt, stress was an extremely prevalent issue that I had to deal with on a daily basis.

We all know, probably too well, what being stressed out feels like. What we don’t always know is what happens to our brains when we’re stressed.

Ever notice how you “freeze” at stressful moments?

Like when you get up to give a presentation and suddenly forget everything you’ve been studying and practicing? Or when you’re in a meeting and your boss criticizes you in front of the entire room? Or even something simpler, like when you look at a stack of bills? Or sit in front of the computer with an enormous amount of tasks in front of you?

Ever notice how, at those exact moments, it’s like you suddenly can’t think? How you forget things you know really well? How solutions to problems that later seem so simple feel impossible when you’re first confronted with that stressful situation?

That’s because when stress hits, your body goes into what’s called “fight or flight.”


In fight or flight, large parts of your brain actually shut down when you need it most. Critical sections of your brain literally go on strike!


To make matters worse, when you go from “fight or flight” into a “freeze” state your body is effectively storing the stress of that moment.

Dr. Robert Scaer, a neurologist who has researched traumatic stress, has found that the “freeze” response encapsulates stress in our bodies, preventing us from moving on after a stressful event until we’ve found a way to release the stress that’s literally lodged in our bodies, in our muscles, even our cells. We’ve found a way to release this stress…

Here’s how it works…

Something stressful happens, or you start thinking about something stressful, like the fact that no matter how hard you work, you always seem to find yourself struggling to pay your bills. Or how unfulfilled you are in your current endeavors. Or just simply how much you have to do!

Within seconds, the part of your brain called the amygdala, the almond-shaped part of your midbrain, tells your body to release stress hormones.

Adrenaline and cortisol, which is often called “the stress hormone”, floods your body, shutting down the creative problem-solving parts of your brain, slowing down your digestion, constricting blood vessels, and more…

Which means your stress is now physical…

It’s controlling how you think, how your body and brain function, how creative you can be, how quickly your brain can react to a given situation.

In “fight or flight”, stress is literally limiting what you’re capable of achieving.

So that big presentation you need to ace to get that big promotion and raise at work? It may not go so well if your stress level is that high.

That to do list that you want to power through… now you’re stressed, not thinking as clearly, making poor decisions and things seem to take forever.

When you’re under chronic stress, as most of us are when we’re concerned about our money situation or our careers, you’re never able to think with your full brain, or use the full power of your problem-solving abilities, or your memory.

So ask yourself this question…

“Am I dealing with any stress right now?”

You’re probably saying “Haha… of course I am! Who isn’t?!”


So if you’re living with regular stress in your life it’s likely preventing you from being able to think clearly, make good decisions and move towards reaching your financial goals…


Think about your everyday life…

If you could eliminate all of the stress that you’re dealing with or at least significantly reduce it, how much better would you feel and how much easier would it be to be able to reach your goals?

Tapping has been scientifically proven to reduce stress. Which means that when you use Tapping to lower your stress levels you’re able to take back control of your body and brain so that you can use it for what you WANT to use it for (like creating your financial freedom)…and not have it controlling you!

The Stress Test Study That Shocked the Researchers…

A study performed by Dr. Dawson Church, PhD and Dr. David Feinstein, PhD, measured cortisol levels before and after treatment.

83 participants were divided into 3 groups: the 1st group received an hour of Tapping; the 2nd group received an hour of psychotherapy (“talk” therapy); the 3rd group (control group) received no treatment.

The researchers measured cortisol levels

before and after the treatment. Cortisol was measured because it is known as the “stress hormone” of the body. As stress goes up, cortisol levels go up.

When the researchers were measuring the cortisol levels of the Tapping group after treatment they thought they had a problem…

The levels had dropped so significantly in such a short period of time that they thought there must be something wrong with their equipment.

They kept recalibrating their equipment and retesting until they finally came to the conclusion that there was in fact…nothing wrong with their equipment but rather that…the Tapping worked!

Results: The 1st group (Tapping) demonstrated a 24% decrease in cortisol levels; the 2nd and 3rd groups showed no change in cortisol levels.

The reality: Psychotherapy alone relieves stress, but over a long period of time. The immediate benefits of psychotherapy don’t register in your body, where excessive amounts of the “stress hormone” cortisol still run rampant, putting your health at risk.

Study findings: Tapping balances activity between the sympathetic and parasympathetic regions of your brain, producing “a neutral emotional state,” the gold standard of health and wellness.


I want you to be able to do what I did and what so many of my clients have done, which is to drastically improve your finances in a short period of time, in a way that is simple and effective, all with the aid of Tapping.

    Question? One should first start tapping about the problem we have. Assume it is a financial block. We tap talking about the problem, being really honest with us about the reason. Even though I am always stressed with money…..Do we ever get to tap stating good things? Ex: I choose to take care of me financially and love and respect myself. The entire tapping is only about good statements.

      Great question, Paulo. I usually do end my tapping rounds with positive affirmations. However, I typically lead with clearing out the “negative” first because that’s where the blocks are. Quoting my dear departed friend Louise Hay, “If you want to clean the house, you have to see the dirt.” Louise was the queen of positive affirmations, but she also recognized that you have to acknowledge and release the beliefs that got us to where we are in the first place. That’s why she loved Tapping, because it could be used for both. 🙂

    I have to admit I was pretty skeptical about all of this what I initially called “tapping stuff”. I first saw one of the videos of you, Nick, on stage working with one of the audience members, & just seriously thought, ‘WTF’! But,I keep an open mind, and after I dug a little deeper and tapped along with one of the sample videos,I indeed felt just the slightest “shift”, enough so,that it felt like maybe, finally, after trying other methods, I might be on the right track with finding something that would help with my limiting beliefs about finances (& even peace of mind and life in general.) While watching your video, there were so many aha moments that opened beliefs about my attitude toward money, more than likely limiting beliefs instilled in me since childhood. (For the record, I grew up in a pretty financially harsh environment after our biological father abandoned us.) I don’t know why, but I feel this pull to continue, & enter your finances tapping course now. Of course, there’s this major fear that I shouldn’t do this, because I don’t have the money right now for something like this. But, (aside from great sales copywriting), why do I feel this strong pull about your materials? Especially when, like I’ve mentioned, I have tried unsuccessfully other courses in the past (never could finish any of them), and am also considering other courses now?

      I completely understand and can relate with you, Richard. When I was almost a million dollars in debt in my real estate business from when the housing market crashed, THAT’S when I got the idea to create a documentary film on Tapping. I had less than no money, I maxed out credit cards, pulled those together I knew who were willing to help, and got started down a path I had no experience with… all because I felt a PULL to do it. That pull is our intuition, and it sees and knows things beyond our material world and above our current financial status. I’d suggest you sit quietly, and try to tune into your intuition. I can tell you this, though, our money problems rarely have anything to do with money – it has to do with our beliefs and our conditioned patterns of thought, both of which Tapping works exceptionally well on. 🙂

        After having read your response, for the past few days, I quieted myself as much as possible, and listened to my intuition. Tonight,this Sunday night, March 10th, 11:15 pm, 2019, I took the plunge and subscribed to the Financial Success Program. (THANK YOU for those payment options!)

        Why? Especially now, literally teetering on the brink of being penniless, while even the IRS is breathing down my neck & slapping me with a lien? Because, I kept tapping. Every Day. Every chance I could. And while acknowledging those limiting beliefs, and reading some of the downloadable articles you have scattered about, there was more and more of that shift. Barely knowing how this tapping really works…IDK, it’s just something I can’t explain. And I’m willing to dig deeper to discover what’s really possible. I especially took to heart what you said about “our money problems rarely having anything to do with money”. Wow, did that ever hit home.

        It’s time. It’s really time. You know, even for me, it’s not too late.

        So…sorry, man, but for the next 7 weeks (or however long it takes me to get through the course), you’re stuck with me! Cheers!

    How can I use EFT to install new thoughts?

    EFT seems to be about removing negative thoughts and feelings.

    But what if you want to install new thoughts in your subconscious mind, like “I am a winner” ?

    How can I use EFT to do that?

    And since they are positive thoughts, how will you know they are installed? With negative thoughts, you know they are gone because the emotional scale is at zero. But will you also use a scale for positive thoughts?

      Hi Philp! Great question. If you watch my videos or listen to any of the tapping meditations, we usually tap on the negative first to “clean out” those emotions and limiting beliefs. Then at the end of a tapping session, I typically tap IN positive affirmations. If you want to test your affirmation, “I am a winner,” then you can use the same 0-10 scale but change the way it’s applied by asking how true does that statement feel? 0 (not true at all) to 10 (completely true). 🙂

    OK, let me explain to you what I am going thru. I am not going to be shy about this maybe some other people are feeling the same way. I want to win the lottery, but a big one really scares me, I don’t even care if I win the base amount and that thought scares me too, because what is going thru my head is the fear of finding the right team of professionals, people who I might make mad if I don’t help them. I do have some happy thoughts but the negative ones always jump in. I am also kind of a perfectionist who thinks that I might be doing something wrong when it comes to tapping. And then I have this thought that I need to change in other ways before I can win lots of money or have lots of money. And that scares me because I don’t want to wait any longer. So does tapping get you into full alignment with your goal? I have this voice inside me saying that everything has to be perfect. If you only knew how my head is spinning right now and will probably spin when I get an answer from you. Please help.

      I don’t know if Tapping can help you win the lottery, Sue, but what it CAN do is eliminate those fears around money coming to you, how to handle it, and the desire to do everything perfectly. Money is actually a good reflection of what we already think about it. When we have a fear of obtaining a lot of money, that’s the signal we’re putting out, and so money is less likely to come. And even if it did, we’d be so afraid of having it that we’d spend it so fast that we’d quickly be back to where we started. When we are in full alignment with how we feel about money, we’ll be ready to have as much as we need or want. 🙂

    What do you mean by FULL alignment with your goal? Can you explain it a little more simpler?

      Hi Sue! Full alignment means all of your desires, thoughts, beliefs, and emotions all agree on the direction you wish to go. For example, if you want to make more money, but there’s still that critical voice inside your head that may be telling you that you aren’t worthy of making more money, that is not in full alignment. Or if you have the belief that money is hard to come by, while trying to make more money, that too is a conflict. Full alignment is like the tumblers of a lock. When they all line up properly, the door is unlocked and able to pass through freely.

    OK, first of all can tapping be done silently or does it have to be out loud? Because I live with 2 other roommates and they don’t believe in tapping and make snide comments. It is only a 2 bedroom trailer and I sleep in the couch. Second how long so you need to do the tapping to feel the full effects of it. And can you do it to change someone else or make someone else do something or change.

    • Nick Ortner says:

      Hi Sue! Great questions. Tapping can be done silently by repeating the phrases in your mind as you tap through the points. Although speaking out loud can certainly help you connect to your feelings because it’s usually stuff you’ve never really said out loud before. There is no set time for Tapping to be effective. Some people only need a few minutes, others need much longer. It all depends on the person, and how many negative emotions or beliefs we have stowed away. You can use the 0-10 scale to measure your results after a few rounds of tapping. Unfortunately, Tapping isn’t effective for changing others (and I personally don’t believe anything is, because it would take away that person’s free will to change). But when you tap on yourself and clear up your own issues, many times those around us will change by themselves. 🙂

      Great question, Slidday! Achieving success in sports or athletic endeavors is very similar to other areas of our lives where we want to excel. Typically, we have limiting beliefs that are keeping us from reaching higher levels of success. Dr. Erin Shannon is a big supporter of Tapping and uses it often with her high-profile athlete clients.     All my life I have aspired to be financially independant, be free, but failed. Realised my past was affecting my future. At 63, 2 years 11 months from a monthly government paycheck I am still stuck, just getting by. I have tried various endeavours, but ecpectation of disappointment may be causing a block. So I will be approaching this with less passion but hope…Will it still work…?

      Hope is always enough, Del. 🙂 The next step is to be diligent with your tapping, and to uncover the blocks that are preventing more abundance from flowing into your life.
