Pain Relief

Tapping with a Skeptic

Written by: Nick Ortner

I know that tapping on parts of your body may seem weird. I know that talking about all this “negative stuff” seems counterintuitive to anything in the “self-help” field. And I know it’s a far stretch to believe that doing these things together can make a very real pain in your body disappear, or promote weight loss, or even allow something SO outrageous to take place like attracting money into your life…

But it DOES!

At some point in our not-so-distant past, it was also impossible to believe that man could fly in the sky, and space travel (or even just simple rockets) were considered science fiction up until the 1940s.

Now, they are considered commonplace in our modern lives, and like airplanes, they are a necessity.

So how are all these things related?

Knowledge. It took knowledge of aerodynamics to crack the mystery of flight, and it takes knowledge of the body’s physical, emotional, and energetic connections to promote health and abundance.

The ironic thing is, this knowledge has been around for thousands of years already, and meticulously documented in Chinese medicine.

But if you don’t know any of this, it’s easy to be skeptical of Tapping, and some people just need to experience it to believe it.

Here’s an amazing video from one of my stage talks where you’ll see a skeptic tap on pain (and release it!) right before your eyes.

This video is also a great example of how Tapping can still work, even if you don’t believe in it.

So for the next skeptic you come across, share this video with them and see if it encourages any shifts for them to give it a try themselves. 🙂

Until next time,

Keep Tapping!

Nick Ortner

Why, oh why, do your meditations and videos make me cry? I’m fighting leukemia and very old. It’s incurable but that’s not as big a deal as why I cry at all of your terrific messages.

    Thank you,
    ali

I am not a skeptic, and have know about tapping for years, and have tried it multiple times on myself. Even bought the tapping summit a few years ago and did many of the guided tapping CDs. (I am a psychotherapist, was trained in EMDR in the early 1990s by Dr. Francine Shapiro, so I am a believer in energy work). EFT does not work for me, at all. I don’t know why. I have had many good years of psychotherapy. I meditate daily. I have an active kundalini that I’ve noticed over the past few years, and have good spiritual teachers helping me. But, EFT doesn’t touch the chronic headache and migraines, or help with Ulcerative Colitis. I hope you print this as we need to know it doesn’t help everyone. Great work, though!

I’m sorry to hear that you feel tapping isn’t effective for you, Jen. Sounds like you’ve got some other great routines, though. 🙂

Yes, I’ve been a sceptic for quite some time … about 6 or 7 years ago I was introduced to tapping by a friend. Even booked some sessions with a therapist … nothing happened. Literally nothing. So I was sure it’s something like “you have to believe in it, otherwise it won’t work”. [mind you, I wasn’t aware at that time that a complex PTSD might ‘fight’ against change ;)]
Well, about 2 to 3 years ago I started having a real tough time (work, family, health …) and was desperately searching for support and release … started to listen to different summits and thus ‘stumbled across’ the Tapping Summit. And started reading your blog and listening to / tapping along your tremendous tapping meditations once in a while … slowly but surely I felt relief … and was introduced to the ‘Trauma Tapping Technique’ … now I tap regularly. On my own. Or using one of your meditations. Or with a practitioner.
And last year I’ve even started a training to become a tapping practitioner myself :).
    So, what changed was:
I was lucky enough to get in touch with tapping again.
I was desperate enough to give it another try.
I was blessed (enough) to ‘find’ The Tapping Solution and the Trauma Tapping Technique.

So – a HUGE thanks to all of you who devote time, creativity, energy, compassion and love to make tapping available to an increasing number of people :):):)!!!
