Do You Suffer From This Epidemic?

Written by: Nick Ortner

I ran across a cartoon today that made me chuckle.

It actually addresses an epidemic that all too many of us are dealing with.

An epidemic that robs us of happiness and fulfillment, often in subtle ways.

No Distractions

The Epidemic: DISTRACTION

No, don’t worry, this isn’t a rant about the evils of social media or our phones. I’m not going to challenge you to avoid going on Facebook, or to turn off notifications on your mobile.

But I do want you to ask yourself this one question: What could I do, in this moment, that would bring me the most happiness and joy?

Perhaps it’s completing a task that has been on your list for way too long. Perhaps it’s doing some tapping about an issue you’ve been ignoring. Maybe it IS going on Facebook to watch funny videos.

Whatever it is, ask yourself that question FIRST, because when you do, whatever action you take will be a CONSCIOUS one.

Consciousness is the key.

Consciousness overcomes distraction.

Consciousness creates change.

Consciousness creates what you most want and desire!

Here it is again: What could I do, in this moment, that would bring me the most happiness and joy?

My personal answer: I’m currently getting ready to host a live webinar in a few days. So I’m going to make myself a nice cup of tea right now, light a candle for focus, put on some music, and get planning. Just thinking about doing this, and how good it’s going to feel to get it done, brings me happiness and joy!

Wish me luck. 🙂

Until next time…

Keep Tapping!

Nick

    Thank you Nick!
Meditate is what I’m going to do. Then tap. With some inspiration from you, I will take a break (or two) with some tea, a candle and quiet. We have one of those beautiful foggy days in San Diego. So lucky! Happy Easter to you and yours.

Thanks Nick – so much info out there that speaks about consciousness and being in the present moment. I’ve read and read and prayed and prayed….it wasn’t until I found tapping that I feel I am finally being able to ‘get it’. Releasing blocks, old feelings, stress….my life is finally clearing up! Appreciate all the work you are doing and all who share in these forums.

Thank you for sharing. Yes, so many distractions and just going on autopilot, and doing things I don’t always prefer to do. Love your answer to the conscious question. While reading it, I could feel my body relax a bit. 🙂

I like the idea that we don’t have to do ‘fun’ things to be happy; just finishing something can cause joy. A completeness, taking off the task list can take off a heaviness of thinking about it all the time and do nothing. Having consciousness of what we want is a great first step. Thank you

This was exactly what I needed today. Namaste.
