EFT Can Help With Chronic Stress

In today’s world, everyone seems to be under stress, and this can wreak havoc on both your body and mind. It can ruin your mood, damage relationships, and lead to both physical and mental health problems. It is important to understand what stress is, what can cause it, recognize the symptoms, and learn what you can do to reduce your levels and improve your quality of life.

Stress is your brains response to a demand or threat. When this response is activated, your body releases a host of hormones (mainly adrenaline and cortisol), which spread through your body and prepare it to take action. Ideally, the stress response is not a bad thing. For all animal, it acts as a life-saving bodily response by readying their bodies to fight or flee a threat. The physical symptoms of stress demonstrate this intended effect, in that your pulse hastens, your breathing quickens, your muscles tense and your brain increases its activity and oxygen consumption.

Problems arise, however, when chronic stress comes into play. In this case, without relief the same hormone levels that are helpful in threatening situations in short term suppress bodily functions that aren’t needed for survival. Chronic stress can lower your immunity and disrupt almost every bodily system, including physical irregularities with your digestive, excretory and reproductive systems.

There are many different potential causes of stress. Daily pressures in life from work, or family, sudden negative changes like job loss, divorce, or illness, and traumatic events like bad accidents, war, physical assault, or natural disasters can all be causes. The symptoms of stress represent themselves in different ways for different people. Some experience it mainly in their digestive system, while others experience symptoms like headaches, insomnia, anger, irritability and anxiety. Because it can suppress your immune system, those who suffer from chronic stress are also more likely to suffer from viral infections like the flu.

It is important to find ways to reduce the stress and anxiety in your body and daily life in order to improve your physical and mental health and create the best quality of life possible. Techniques to help overcome it include seeking help from a mental health professional, setting priorities in your daily tasks, focusing on what you have accomplished during the day instead of your shortcomings, getting regular exercise, and incorporating Emotional Freedom Technique Tapping (EFT Tapping) into your life.
