Ralph Waldo Emerson famously said, “For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.” Is there something you’re angry about, big or small, that you’d like to release?
Anger is tough, because by its very nature it encourages us to hold on to it. That’s why if you’re angry and someone says, “Why don’t you just let it go?” it can make you even angrier! Lol!
So I’m not going to ask you to just “let it go”, I’m going to actually encourage you to FEEL and ACKNOWLEDGE that anger FIRST and then, potentially, when the time is right, let it go.
The reality is, you likely don’t WANT to feel angry. It doesn’t feel good and it robs you, as Ralphie-boy said, of peace of mind. That’s why I think you’ll find today’s free Tapping Meditation especially helpful. It’s called “From Anger To Peace”. The world needs all of us to let go of more anger. 🙂

I had my brother use his children to level a degrading accusation against my husband and I, in our home, on Christmas day in front of all of our company. We also learned he made numerous defaming comments about me in a public gathering on Christmas Eve. My anger did not subside even after waiting for a cooling off period and confronting him and my sister in law ,who was also part of the circumstance. I knew where I had to turn and started this tapping session. My anger went from a 15 to about a 2 and I came to realize the additional things that are rolled up into this. Thank you. Happy New Year!
That’s wonderful to hear, Emmie! It isn’t easy, I know. But when we can uphold our character and tap to release that tension and those hurtful feelings, our actions can speak truths louder than anyone’s portrayal of us. Good for you! I’m glad the tapping helped. Big hugs! 🙂
As I did this today – and I had to do it twice this week to calm down this morning – I realized that one reason I was holding on to the anger was because I was afraid if I let it go, I’d forget about it and let certain people step all over me again. It was helpful to realize that I could let go of the anger and still remember to avoid toxic people and to be prepared for the times when I need to be around them. Once I had that thought and realized why I was having so much trouble letting go of the anger, it was easier to let it go. Certainly, holding on to it is like spending *more* time with toxic people!
That’s a great insight, Janet! Sometimes we hold on to the emotion as a self-protecting mechanism to remind us not to get hurt again. But the cool thing (and what you discovered) is that we can still hold memories without their emotional charge. That makes us wiser, and less apt to fall back on emotions that aren’t good for our bodies to hold on to. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Nick and thanks. I did it today from 10 to 5, I cried like a baby, just when you started to say we are allowed to cry or whatever. I feel much better now. I know I have to practice this a lot, because the cause of my anger are my noisy neighbors, which is a thing you may think is annoying, to stand each day, and more when I like to meditate and be in silence, and need peace.

Was good to get this. Just finished a class using your new book and we all gained so much. I grew up with permission to feel all the feelings except anger, so have been in the process of allowing myself to acknowledge the feelings are real–and can only be released when I admit they are there. Tapping really helps–although I laugh that it’s a wonder I don’t have bruises on my face since the tapping gets pretty vigorous at times! Thanks, Nick and Jessica, for all that you are doing. I discovered tapping when I was going through a divorce and I was definitely angry then. It absolutely helped me get past that anger and move on. From that point on I have used it in so many situations and it always works. Thank you for your tenacity in bringing this amazing technique to the masses!!
