Pain Relief

How Your Pain Might Be Serving You

Written by: Nick Ortner

Image puppet in the hands of the puppeteer. One of the things we’ll be covering in the upcoming Pain Relief World Summit, starting November 11th at 12 P.M. Eastern, is how pain can sometimes serve us and benefit us in ways we’re not consciously aware of.

And it’s these perceived benefits that often keep the physical pain locked in place.

Events from our past – times when we didn’t feel safe, didn’t feel like we were enough, or didn’t feel loved – can cause us to hold back in fear of getting hurt again.

I want to share a powerful video to show you what I mean.

You’ll see me work on stage with an incredibly brave woman named Joanne as we address the unconscious beliefs keeping her physical pain in place.

As you watch the video, make sure to tap along with us as if you’re just another member of the audience.

Before you watch though, I have 2 warnings for you:

#1 – This video is very moving, so have a tissue box ready. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house at the event, especially during what happens at the end. I won’t spoil it for you – you’ll want to see this for yourself!

#2 – I know that some people are offended by strong language. There is one point in the clip where both Joanne and I swear, not just for the sake of it, but with a very specific purpose, as you’ll see. I just thought I would warn you so that you’re prepared and not offended (and in case kids are in the room!). 🙂

.

And after you watch, please leave your comments below of support for Joanne, along with any insights you gained.

Wow, wow, wow! What an explosive, touching, amazing video. Thank you Joanne for sharing your journey with us. I tapped along while watching to help heal some issues of my own with my parents. I have run, I have hidden, I have tried to ignore my issues as well. The pain can sometimes feel overwhelming. But as you have shown, we can tap and heal our way through it!

Thank you Nick for sharing this incredible technique with so many people. I had fallen off the tapping wagon, but after this, I see once again it’s tremendous healing power, and I’m ready to start again.

  2. Mary Padwick says:

This was a beautiful and optimistic experience. Joanne, you are a lovely woman, start believing that. Thank you for your courage.
Nick and Alex, that was very special.

  3. Madeleine says:

I am glad that you were able enjoy the tango again !

  4. Francesca says:

Thank you for your courage, Joanne! I was doing it along side of you. Lots of healing tears! And dancing with Alex was SO beautiful. SO much love!

  5. Rosalind says:

I think you are beautiful. Your vulnerability and raw courage moved me to tears of empathy. You’re a wise woman and if what you showed us all up there wasn’t feminine and grace, I don’t know what is.
    Nick, you are an angel.
    Alex, you too.

  6. Gloria Lionz says:

Joanne and Nick’s work together was potent. It’s true; his compassion & intuitive pacing was impeccable. AND the idea of adding tango at the end was sweet empowerment! Congratulations to Joanne!

  7. Kathy says:

Great job! I also love to dance. I have asked men to dance and been rejected and it made me feel embarrassed and humiliated. I just started dancing by myself (rocking out, not slow songs!) Pretty soon I started to get asked to dance more, probably because they thought they had a better chance of not being rejected! Nobody likes to be rejected. ❤️

  8. Barbie says:

Thank you. Very inspirational. Joanne even looked different at the end. Keep up the good work.

  9. Patricia says:

I’m impressed by the way Nick handled Joanne so gently.

  10. LoveDelaney says:

I don’t even know this woman but Im as proud of her as I would be my own family member ? She’s so brave & courageous for allowing herself to be that raw & vulnerable, to be so open about her issues like this. Go joanne, I can imagine your now the leader you’ve always were capable of being. I believe Tapping is a true healing tool & I will continue to practice it in my own life on my own issues. Thank YOU Nick & everyone else involved. Its Amazing ❤?❤

  11. Kim says:

Thank you so much for this experience. I learned so much.

  12. Christina says:

My eyes are flowing over… Keep on dancing, Joanne! I know you will, that inner stumbling block being gone now! That was a very compassionate guidance, Nick, and Alex was the ‘dot on the i’ – as we say here in Switzerland. Thank you!

  13. Marinna says:

I just loved watching you Joanne and Nick. I was mesmerized. Joanne I loved how you dared to be real thereby giving me permission to be real; and Nick I loved how deeply focused and quiet you were; how you gave yourself to assisting Joanne as she dared to express her truth. I am so touched and feel beautiful for having experienced this with you both remotely in VT. And Nick’s grand idea and Alex and Joannes’s dancing and maybe best of all Joanne’s pinkie toe. Be blessed. Marinna

  14. Rosemary says:

    awesome!!!!!!!!

  15. Alethea Estes says:

Billy Evans, I hope you will be able to get over feeling foolish and embarrassed because Joanne actually is letting go of her pain, living her life and dancing beautifully.
Try tapping to move past your discomfort. It is safe and effective.
I am inspired by Joanne for daring greatly! The courage goes to the one in the arena not the nay Sayers from the side lines!
    BRAVO Bella Joanne!
    Onward!

  16. Marilyn Daniells says:

    Bless you Joanne.

Your story resonated with me on several levels. I have been expending an increase in the intensity of low back and hip pain despite chiropractic treatment. I now realize that I am still holding onto to anger against an old friend who passed away two weeks ago. She started working at a time when I was struggling to keep up with changes happening in both the profession and the workplace . She chose to ” mentor ” me . Many of my co workers would mark about how she treated me. Over the years it slowly got more negative until I finally shut her out. A long and horrible tirade over the phone, in which she covered every sin of ommiission and commission ended our friendship.

The Tapping Summt came just when I needed it. I have purchased both Nick and Jesicca’s books. Today I received the email that led me to the video.

I can’t possibly thank you enough . I woke up with pain and after following Nick and following the tapping in the video I am pain free ! Thank you

  17. Kay Gallen-Kallela says:

Thank you for sharing! You are so courageous When you were talking about no one wanting to dance with you, it hit a string in me! I recognized just that ! and then I realized a new angle in my own life trauma !
When I was 3 years old my mother left me with, first her uncle for one month then she picked me up and after a few months withher, she left me again.
I lived one year in a fosterhome.
My father was so violent that she had to leave before he killed her! We were very frightened.
In those days, in the 50s, it was hard to be a single mother.
Being born in an aristocratic and very famous family in Finland and after the fosterhome, being moved to Sweden to the deep working class part of town, made me totally loose my identity and my worthiness.
I have lived with that feeling deep inside me ever since. It is scary how the subconscious mind works!
For years I did different kind of self help and therapies and still, today, when listening to you I knew there was some left to work with ! Layer upon layer!
I am happily married since 20 years, I have a beautiful , loving daughter and granddaughter. I am living my passion , working as a healer and horsetrainer. We have a beautiful small ranch in California and a ranch in Sweden, and still, eventhough I am knowledged as a fine dressage rider and trainer I never managed to fulfill my dreams and reach the top levels in dressage nor make enough money. It is my husband who owned the ranch in Sweden and owned the forrest we sold to buy our place here in California. I have always worked hard, always followed my heart, always done my best, given all I have and studied to learn more and more. My clients have been very loyal and loved my work. Both healing clients and riding students but always things have gone wrong just as the companies have been ready to bloom. Incidences . Sometimes very tragic. Horses dying in terrible accidents, communication system breaking down shoting off all connections with the outer world etc. People tricking us over and over. And I can actually trace this back to the unconscious part that was feeling unworthy!!
So thank you so much! I wish you all the best!
And thank you Nick Ortner! You are the best ! 🙂
    Sincerely
    Kay Gallen-Kallela

  18. Julia says:

That was stunning and incredibly moving. I have pain in my hip and I could relate to a lot of what Joanne described. It was very helpful in giving me areas to tap on. Thank you Nick for your skill and Joanne for your courage and realness and beautiful dancing!! You are SO worth it. Love to you!

  19. Justina says:

Even though I am not in pain, I felt so much release as I watched this video. Went through a half pack of tissues 🙂 thank you for everything Nick, your work is amazing!!!

  20. Di says:

It was such a kind and thoughtful thing to do. And to watch Joanne gingerly begin the dance and embrace it was so touching. Really brave

  21. Brenda says:

What a wonderful moment! I would love to tango with Alex too! 🙂

  22. Carolle says:

Thanks for being so brave Joanne and all the best moving forward in your life. Nick was right about the two warnings. Glad my tissues were right next to me. Very powerful!

  23. EJMac says:

Wonderful ! Joanne you are a beautiful lady.I admire your courage! God bless all of you wonderful people at The Tapping Solution ,for all the great things you do .I am a believer. You have certainly helped me ,when I needed you .Thank you soooo much.

  24. Gayle says:

This is the second time I have watched this video. I am impressed with the transformation Joanne experienced! Nick I admire how you were able to lead and guide her through this painful process.
Thank you for your desire to teach others to help themselves through Tapping.

  25. claire says:

Joanne, well done your face looked so much clearer and you have pride back in yourself. Well done Well done also to Nick and The Tapping Solution

  26. Peggy says:

This is the first time I was able to see and listen to your tapping results in helping people. The method you devised to help Joanne gain her self esteem and relief some of her pain was amazing! I want to congratulate Joanne and wish her continued success.

  27. Denise says:

I’m very inspired by you! It took a lot of courage to walk through your fear in front of all those people to get to the other end, which was empowerment. It touched me deeply and I had to substitute the word Mom for Dad. I followed you and Nick through the tapping sequence and I do feel so much better now! Thank you for being you!

  28. Cindy says:

Congratulations!!! Having the opportunity to change your life is great ~ taking hold of that opportunity and using it to transform a decades long problem into nothing more than a memory that no longer has pain is AWESOME!!! Live well; live while being at peace.

  29. Jean says:

Incredible to say the least! Yes this tapping solution works to move individuals through the pain to better times! I have used it many times for various issues……. even falling asleep at night!
My betrayal was not from my parents but from a man who refused to transform his pain and eventually succumbed to other issues which cost him his life! The major triggers were deaths of family members! Thank you or sharing your gifts! It will help those who will use the tactic!

I have purchased the books for my grandchildren as yes……….. young children today do experience stress too! It is a different world to which I grew up in! May they be happy, healthy and successful individuals full of confidence to face the challenges of tomorrow!

  30. Solanne says:

Oh my god! Thank you so much! I cried as much as she did as I recognized myself in her story. I didn’t know I still had issues with my dad…

  31. Satu Salo-Bosley says:

It is amazing how seemingly unimportant events can cause such havoc by latching onto our subconscious minds. Yet there are worse things that are said and done and we sail through them. Well done Joanna!

  32. Tut says:

I never realized I felt the same way toward my dad growing up…until this video. I am also a middle child of 6, and my dad always favored by big brother and sister. I know it wasn’t his fault and he didn’t intentionally make me feel not good enough. But all my life I felt non-special. Now I’m 56, I finally forgive him and I know I am special and I am worthy! Thank you for sharing, Joanne. Thank you for the link, Nick

  33. Judy Krusky says:

Your work helped me clarify that my issue is not with the person in front of me now but with the person from my past that exists in my head. Thank you. Judy

  34. Ása says:

Thank you for this lovely and heartwarming presentation. I tapped along and cried. Some old things.
Tell the lady that I admire her courage. She is lovely and I wish her all the best.

  35. Suzanne says:

That was the nicest, most powerful transformation to see, this beautiful lady go through and come out looking like a rose! Loved it, thank you for sharing with us.

  36. Sheira Rosenberg says:

Wow, that was incredibly powerful! So moving, so inspiring! The universe gives us clues all the time. We just have to be open to listening. Nick, you seem like an amazing human being. I too am in the healing space, specifically for mothers and daughters. I hope we get to meet one day.
