Join Jessica and Lissa in this candid video conversation:

(and make sure to watch until the end of the video for a few good laughs)

Yes I do believe we create our own illnesses simply by our thoughts. I know someone that planned a trip and the day the arraingments were made they said “Watch I’ll probably catch a cold” and it did happen. GOD gave us this incredable organ called a brain, but we never had an owners manual until NOW. The work Nick, Lissa, Cristy, Sonia and many others are doing I’m sure is helping a great deal of people understand the power of the mind and positive thoughts.
Thank You for your work !!!

  2. Sue Lucia says:

I most definitely believe that our thoughts, beliefs, and emotions have everything to do with our chronic un-wellness and that we can certainly heal ourselves with the right information and knowledge. And listening to our bodies is key.

Long before I knew about EFT, a friend in California introduced me to the “karate chop” tap, which has helped me get back to sleep in the middle of the night. Somtimes I need to do it twice, but 99% of the time, it works.

Now that I’m familiar with the other tapping sites, I plan to address additional challenges (a lot of them emotional) and feel confident that I’ll have the same success.

With much appreciation for all you’ve done.

    Sue Lucia

  3. Belinda says:

yes, I absolutely think that emotions and thoughts can affect our physical being. belinda

  4. Carrie Payne says:

As a psychotherapist, I have used tapping extensively and know that this ancient knowledge of the life energy system is now the medicine of the future. My new “primary Care doc” (who I won’t be staying with) responded with “The problem with people being interested in these alternative treatments is that there is no scientific proof of it.” I told him “You seem like a nice fellow (he is young), but I will continue to look for a primary care doc who is familiar with the research that indeed is out there.” Unfortunately he wasn’t interested enough for me to speak further. He is part of Providence health care here in Everett WA and didn’t seem to have any one else in the waiting room.
Dr. Rankin’s work is soo essential and to the Ortners – I thank you for getting the word out.

  5. Jane Howe says:

I absolutely agree. our thoughts trigger emotions, chronic thoughts become beliefs .strong beliefs with strong emotions attract what ever it is we are believign good or bad so making that shift in thought will allow the flow of well being hense a healthy mind body and spirit. <3

  6. DJ says:

I thought this was excellent. I have recommended EFT to many people. It saved my life by lowering my blood pressure enough to get off meds. completely. Many blessings to you, Jessica & all who bring these new technologies to us. Your good works are so appreciated.

  7. brenda hill says:

I totally agree with this. I saw my daughter do it 2 years ago. She was told she had a bladder infection and the only drug that could effect this germ had a side effect of deafness. The dr’s (3) were standing there in yellow suits and she said well I guess I will have to get well. We left the hospital and she did get well.

  8. Kellie says:

I truly believe emotions effect health. I myself am a holistic therapist and see amazing results from clients who come in suffering from one ailment but then when they relax into the treatment and feel positive it has a knock on effect with other ailments.
My concern for my own health is I know my consultant is not on board with me getting to optimum health. He constantly focuses on the poor state of my health, with little talk of how it can be improved, i constantly feel like Im fighting a loosing battle to stay on the current medication I am on. I know finding a new doctor who is a specialist in regards to my illness would improve my chances of good health however as I am on a trial drug i fear a new doctor may not be willing ot keep me on it. So worry over loosing the medication I am on keeps me stuck with my negative doctor!
When are you going to being Holistic Health Care to the UK as I know of one doctor Id like to nominate to attend!lol

  9. Lynne Nesbit says:

It is so helpful to hear how it all works and why the body can heal itself. I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow) over three years ago. The consultant told me the condition is incurable and chemo and radiotherapy can only alleviate symptoms. That is his belief, as Lissa said, which could easily and predictably have borne its own fruit. But my belief is that his belief has limits! I immediately thought: “What a privilege!” Not sure where that one came from but it has inspired me ever since to heal myself as a total being, not just the body, not just the cancer. My belief is that I can do it and I’ve never felt better than now. The diagnosis was a huge gift. My consultant laughingly said that he should be on what I am on, so I shared all the detail with him, including the EFT, the shamanic healing, the chanting and the meditation. However, until he changes his beliefs, he won’t feel better himself. Thank you for all you do to uplift mankind. No lesser thing than that!

  10. patrice says:

I KNOW that my emotions affect my health. I believe I have the ability to heal myself. Find the correct path has been difficult.

  11. niranjanie singh says:

yes i believe Do you believe that my emotions and thoughts impact on health? i do think that i have the power to heal yourself? Just not strong minded enough nor have the full commitment.i have experienced a self healing to some small extent on a few occasions. however quite often i need the reminder and motivation. i have only recently started listening to my inner voice, for years i’ve ignored it even though i always knew that is what im suppose to do. but i’ve now decided to make it a part of everyday living.
The video was very reinforcing and the explanation Dr Lissa Rankin in her unique way was enlightening.

I must say that my g.P. is one of those holistic Dr who really try to convince me that i dont need medication for my health, that i need to change my perspectives and think of myself and what makes “me” happy . she has been my source of inspiration and motivation and my healing source as well. I’m pleased with Dr rankin’s program we need Drs’ who are holistic.

    Tapping is awesome and

  12. Tamie says:

Yes, I do believe we can all heal ourselves. I believe the emotional pain and stress in our lives eventually manifests in the physical. Unless the thought process changes the physical manifestation of disease and illness continues. If you believe you can get well you will, if you believe you cannot “you will”. Kudos!

  13. Catherine says:

Have always believed that each of us has within ourselves whatever it is that we need to in order to feel better, be happy and healthy.
Not sure why, exactly, that I feel this way but have since I was very young.
Perhaps it is my optimistic approach to life, in general – who knows!??!?

The fact that we are not all able to actually accomplish a “mind over matter” lifestyle, in my thinking, is mainly due to the fact that not all of us can concentrate equally, or believe that we can literally make such a change in ourselves. We are our own worst stumbling blocks…

Personally, I do not regularly or daily take the time to take care of myself through meditation or tapping. But when I do, I can feel the difference whether the issue is alleviated immediately or not.

Happily for me, I am pretty in tune with myself and therefore, my body. Being single has afforded me that opportunity as I have no one else to think or worry about all the time – no children, ailing parents, spouse, major family issues and the like.

Now, I just need to do these things for myself!

So, I heartily agree that we all have the power within ourselves to make the defining difference in our own lives.

  14. Georgia says:

I enjoyed the interview and I am so looking forward to finding these doctors who believe in us. I work with one now who is very positive and in his late 70’s and he believes the body can heal itself. thank you for the video Jessica.

  15. Nola Foster says:

Yes I do believe our thoughts can influence how we feel and therefore impact on our well-being. I plan to explore the benefits of tapping – it all rings very true to me.

  16. Steve says:

Nice interview. Good information. Thanks for the insights.

  17. Kim Frost says:

I have had MS most of my life. I cannot remember being healthy at any time in my life. I have seen several different doctors over the years and finally when I was 24 they figured out what I actually had. I took medication for a short time period, but I have always been an advocate of eating healthy and taking vitamin supplements. I still have some symptoms, but for the most part am much healthier now and I do wish that doctors would look more into the body healing itself without all the poisonous medications that are prescribed to people everyday.

  18. Rosanne Feneley says:

    Dear Lissa,

I have read most of your book. Thank you for your wisdom. However, I have delayed writing my own prescription until my doctor agreed to supporting me through it. We’re about to get started on it. I gave her a copy of your book and she’s enjoying reading it.

Also, I’m relieved you recommend the Tapping Technique, because I had an adverse reaction to my first trial of it – early morning hour wake with a stress response; this had never happened to me before. You have provided me with the courage to try it again, in the quest to heal myself.

    With kind regards,

    Rosanne Feneley

  19. Jeannine Thrane says:

ABSOLUTELY! It has been seen so often before that the mind is able to perform incredible healing. I think healing starts with clearing and healing uncomfortable feelings as anger, fear, frustration.

Healing starts with listening and being connected to the body. But being connected not driven by fear, driven by appreciation, love and interest instead.

Healing starts with accept and trying to seek for the meaning behind and a big trust and openness.

.. I guess.. however I would love and be so happy if I might be so lucky to win this book as I have a friend suffering from cerebral thrombosis and being lame as an affect. I would love to be able to spread hope and awareness and knowledge.

Thank you sooo much for this lovely interview. You are so delighting, both of you and I wish from my inner soul I could be an active part in thetappingsolution team and Hay House! This is a huge desire of mine as this feels so right to me.

    Love to all of you!

    Jeannine

  20. Teri Mister says:

Yes. I absolutely believe in my ability to heal myself. Have been doing the best I can without medical support in the power of how much I believe this but I could sure use some support from a medical doctor to clear out the remaining infection from bronchiactasis(sp?) and some residuals from polio contracted at 12 yrs of age (I am now 73 and doing amazingly well). I am a walking miracle and am excited to get Lissa’s book to reinforce my beliefs in this direction. Thank you all so much for what you are doing to educate and support us in believing in ourselves and our natural state of well being.

  21. Sharon says:

Yes, the whole body communication…the miracle KNOWING the stress hormone induced by negative thoughts must be followed by Gratitude and let it go…will become soften. With the belly breath, inhale and exhale through your nose grounds, centers and connects to higher self…a relaxed Whole Being.

    Gratitude & Love ~ Sharon

  22. Edith Schulz says:

It’s absolutely the only thing that makes sense!
And there is SO much evidence of it when you start looking. Not only in scientific research but among friends and family! I love it! Edith

  23. george says:

Gog bless you for standing up, Lissa.

My grandmother told me that the mind allows the body to heal. She also told me that serenity and spirituality feed the mind. She said,”When your at peace with your self, illness has no foothold. Thanks, you guys were great!

  24. luz says:

It is true how my mind control my body, I used EFT to many things to follow the septs and i had an excellent experiencia in many path.I want to read this book now to improve my tecnicts and complement with EFT. Thank you for all informations about this.

  25. Charlotte Pedersen says:

Yes I truely believe the body can heal itself. The proof is in the fact that human beings still walk on this planet. If the healing was not inbuilt from the start, there would not have been anybody left. There are so many natural ways to heal. It includes loving-, believing- and trusting ourselves, faith, feeling grateful and living life from the creative mindset. Thank you

  26. Andrea Scott says:

I love that Lissa is empowering doctors to help their clients become activated patients. I am an advocate of listening deeply to your inner voice and believe that anything is possible if you are in alignment with a belief that it is possible. Thank you so much for writing this book. I have not yet read it and will get a copy shortly. I would love to turn other doctors onto your website. I am a health empowerment coach and I am so in alignment with the fact that we are meant to heal ourselves. Statistics tell us that 70 percent of all hospital visits are stress related. Some doctors unfortunately co-create more stress for their patients with their nocebos ( a word I picked up from Bruce Lipton), and then the law of attraction comes into play. You are a blessing Lissa!

  27. Louisa Lalonde says:

YES, I BELIEVE AND I KNOW I CAN HEAL MYSELF…BUT ON MY OWN I CAN DO NOTHING BUT WITH MY GOD AND SAVIOUR I CAN DO MOST EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE AND HAPPENS BECAUSE I WALK EVERYDAY IN FAITH AND HOPE!… I LOVE TO LISTEN TO LOVELY POSITIVE PEOPLE LIKE JESSICA ORTNER AND IT WAS THROUGH HER THAT I WAS INTRODUCED TO EFT 2 YEARS AGO WHICH HAS BEEN THE BEST THING THAT’S HAPPEN TO ME AND MY BODY! THANK-YOU JESSICA AND ALL THE PEOPLE THAT YOU BRING ON YOUR PROGRAMS THAT HELP ME TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW AND HEALTHY EVERYDAY!…

  28. Dalana says:

I most definitely believe that and have found that when I “ask my body ” It gives the answers and it just feels right/true : and if I follow it, I do feel better. I told myself years ago that I would not get a cold or flu from anyone around: and I haven’t. So: I know beliefs, feelings and labelling create what you experience. I want to learn much more about it. I also got Nick’s book and am using EFT and finding the tapping has results because it is thoughts and beliefs knocking on the doorways of meridians which pick up the message and begin to turn things toward the better.

  29. Marilyn says:

Thanks Jessica and Dr Rankin for the encouragement and spreading the word of the power of the mind (over medicine). As a counsellor, I used to think how lucky I am to be free from major problems. Well, the table turned one year ago after being diagnosed with breast ca, now dealing with the anxiety, ptsd, depression, and financial woes, and not working. Insurance doesn’t recognize my alternative ways of treatment. The sooner we get the message out there and the 51% (count me in!), the better for all! Next time I see my GP and my naturopath, I am going to ask them straight out, Do you believe I can get better? It takes a lot of energy to keep the faith up! EFT is definitely part of my daily regimen thanks to Jessica and Nick! You are all doing wonderful much needed and appreciated work!
p.s. And thanks so much for the good laugh at the end of the interview… what, Jessica, are you getting hot flashes!!?? So soon?? I appreciated that I could laugh rather than the usual tears that just come…. I’m going to watch that again!

  30. Marie says:

Thank you again. I experience everyday the power of the mind on each and every aspect of my life and this includes of course my body, my health, my relationships, my environment which in turn influence my neighbours, my city, my country, the world. With love and gratitude for sharing so much inspired thoughts, techniques and discoveries.

  31. Scherry says:

love this interview. I just got the download from Hay House for Lissa Rankin and now am so looking forward to listening to it. I am so aligned with the ideas that my thoughts and beliefs, as well as my doctors, create my reality. I had ovarian cancer in 2010 and the universe gave me the giant 2×4 so it was found early–stage 1, which is rare with ovarian cancer. I used the tumor, cancer, and chemo as a way to release old ways of being, thinking and to learn from each moment of the process. The cancer experience taught me so much and I am so grateful for my life now (wasn’t true before the cancer). My attitude and my doctors’ was positive and supportive. I watched for and listened closely to the positive messages available, not the negative ones as so many people do. I am convinced that my experience with cancer was for a purpose, I learned what I needed to, and I don’t need to repeat the experience. Thank you for getting messages like this out there!

  32. Cathy KillochName (required) says:

I whole heartedly believe in Mind over Medicine and have done so for many years after reading the likes of Louise Hay, Joan Boryesenko (heal your mind, heal your body and many other titles by her & others) and Bernie Siegel’s pioneering work on Laughter and medicine. It is amazing that at this time, there are so many showing us the intereconnected of our beings thru energy, thoughts and feelings. I look forward to reading Dr. Rankin’s book.

  33. Borjana says:

Iam just thrilled reading all the positive comments above!!! This shows we ARE READY FOR THE SHIFT!!!!Beautiful! And, of coutrse, I believe; no- I KNOW this to be true!!!!
    Love, to all of you!!!

  34. Debarri says:

I have tried to figure out how to heal myself and have gotten off all medications and did okay for a while then my hashimotos got alot worse however my adrenals improved as well as my insomia but it has been a real struggle and a daily thing to try and improve. Many times I feel like I take many steps forward then rapidly go backwards. Thyroid + stress are not a good combination and any additional sugar for extra energy creates a negative situation. I am however hopeful and constantly trying things. Looking forward to learn about tapping.

  35. Kathleen Gray says:

My body has come to my rescue time and time again healing itself. The unfortunate part is that I allow stress to overflow until my body has to break down in some form of ailment so that I will listen. Over the years I have fine tuned some of the ways to eliminate stress, but life is stressful. What is especially stressful is the way our unconscious minds slide in from the back door with old tapes and patterns that interfere. EFT is what I use and keep using! It is fantastic and keeps me accountable for myself and healing my body!

  36. rosina gould says:

yes you are incharge of your own mind. and had it work both way’s as i aloud my self to be operated on yet deep in my mind i new it was not the problem. and i was right and had to go back for correct prosedure. why do we not lissen to our selvs and speek up, what are we afraed of. ( sorry for spelling)

  37. Therese Bushen says:

I know you can heal yourself! I had the experience of having problems with my gums many years ago and was told by an oral surgeon that I “had” to have surgery on them and I did not have insurance or funds to do that at that time. I used self healing techniques I had learned, as well as some herbal mouth rinses, and when I went back to my dentist, she said she could not believe it was the same mouth. All was well, and that was 20 years ago! This is not the only instance of self healing I have experienced, and they are too numerous to mention, so I won’t go into all of them, but just know that if I can do it, so can anyone! I look forward to reading this wonderful sounding book, and really enjoyed your video!

  38. Anna-Marie McKay says:

As a cancer survivor, I am a firm believer in self healing. I was diagnosed with colo/rectal cancer that had spread to my liver. My first doctor told me he could keep me alive for maybe 6 months. Since I did not agree with his opinion, I found a doctor who gave me immediate hope, and 2 years later, here I am without a trace of the tumors in my colon or my liver. I attribute this to not only my supportive doctor, but also to my own certain belief that my attitude, thoughts and emotions played a big part, and this outcome. Hooray for Dr. Rankin’s book. I can’t wait to read it!

  39. Kathleen says:

I am even more inspired after catching the talk between Jessica & Dr Lissa Rankin…no coincidences! I am a believer in self healing however, sometimes family & doctors attempt to destroy those thoughts. I am known to be the “strange one” in our family & among some friends when I share my feelings on my natural remedies, vitamins inclusive. I have hardly given in to medications from age 19, now a Senior. The irony is that some are now taking these odd nutrients! I still carry some limiting beliefs about my own healing so I do seek out alternative others who have assisted me over many years however, very costly! I want to be my own doctor and now is the time to remember that I am capable, can empower myself, crack those blocks & I am thrilled that the TAPPING assists in doing just that. I am in deep gratitude with how much more is being openly presented, Thank You!

  40. Mary Sanchez says:

Yes! to Dr. Rankin and yes! to listening to our bodies. I woke up last week with extreme chest pain upon breathing, coughing, even yawning. My doctor told me to go to the ER. Well, seven hours and $65 later, I was sent home with an Rx, which I later learned was a relative of Vicodin (! )and told to rest and not lift anything. Before knowing what the Rx was, I did try it–for one day. It stopped the pain, and nearly stopped ME. I was a groggy, zombie-like mess for one day. Then I decided to throw the Rx out and trust my body’s ability to heal itself. I did rest, but in between rests sat with my feet on a grounding pad and started tapping. I tapped every day for the rest of the week, getting better every day. I was symptom free after that, felt positive and well enough to start deep breathing exercises. I would love to learn more from Dr. Rankin and her MIND OVER MEDICINE. Thanks, Jessica.

  41. Dr/ Miki Dvir says:

Thank you for this very intersting information about the healing capacity of our body. I loved the concept that Dr. Rankin is introducing.

  42. Alfred von Bachimayr says:

I have a rare blood disease and ow are taking 8 different meds including chemo which is taking a heav toll on my body. I have read books by Louise Hay and Wayne Dyer amongst others and fully feel self healing is available but do not have the confidence to cut the medical cord so I live in both worlds now trying to see my way out of this killing disease. I so want to follow the self healing path, but need a little hand holding on how to hold the mindset that will make it possible. I want to get the book simply to continue down this path more effectively.. It is refreshing to find thinkers like Dr. Rankin who is a medical doctor, but understand our powers to heal naturally using our minds far exceeds the medical capabilities. I am so willing to try this.

  43. Stacey says:

I believe that we can heal ourselves. I have seen a Theta healing practitioner,, that after just one session, I was pain free for the first time in years,, and I stopped taking medications that were to be for life!!! I still see doctors,, but feel like they don’t listen, and just rush you through. I am interested to read this book!

  44. SIXTO OMAR SOSA says:

Yes i do believe so, and of course we have the power to heal our self, now, i , my self have to learn how to do it with tapping, and i hope to get it soon, thanks a lot for what you’ve alredy done for me

  45. Barbara-Cheryth Stone says:

Couldn’t agree more with this interview…a thought becomes a word, can become action which becomes habit so if our doctor says you will have a stroke if you don’t take your medicine this immediately can go into your consciousness and super consciousness thus you could create/manifest the outcome and have a stroke… doctors need to seriously ‘watch their language’ and stop saying any outcome which can impact on their patient. When I recently saw a doctor due to the blood pressure in my body going up as she was speaking I was constantly in my head saying cancel, cancel, cancel so her words did not impact on me… if I win this book I will give it to my doctor here in the UK! Keep up the good work!

  46. Anna Borowik says:

I loved that more doctors start to be more open minded instead to be disease carrier and start to change to be a healers We people from holistic, alternative medicine for more then twenty years we believe that our emotions and thoughts affect our ability to heal. we are the healers so we can heal ourselves. we don’t know where we are going with our medicine we use innovative different approaches to keeping people heal. there are lots of room for a lot of research for this medicine and power of mind also. We know that poor attitude of doctors, therapist toward the patient should be in the positive direction.

  47. Jennie Kapadia says:

ABSOLUTELY !!! The body has this amazing gift of heal itself and that too without any side effects. And I agree with what Lissa said about your doctor’s belief affecting you. I started tapping 6-8 months ago for health and weight problems. It has helped me so much. I never knew that there could be underlining reasons that affect your body to such an extent. Tapping has been such an eye opener for me.

  48. Billie says:

I have learned from my experience that most all of my pain and disease is caused by the deeply embedded and faulty beliefs I hold about myself. These beliefs are what create the thoughts and negative emotions that I have been so good at avoiding or blocking. Realizing that those blocks could be causing distress in my body made me want to examine what might be lurking in my subconscious mind. The challenge was that the beliefs were buried deeply, artfully disguised, and difficult to detect as it was very dark where they were hiding!:) I’ve discovered that using the tapping phrase “Even though_______, I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself” helps me to drop the judgment and gives me the courage to take myself by the hand and walk into that darkness. The key for me, I’ve found, is unconditional love and then trusting that I can “Be” that for myself. It is empowering me to live life more freely and fully!

  49. Jane says:

It meant a lot to hear the explanation re the sympathetic versus parasympathetic system’s role in tapping and healing. The laughter at the end was just as healing as the aforementioned message – thank you for both. jane (nurse PhD plus health coach

  50. Elsa Winterkorn says:

I was introduced to tapping 2 years ago … I love everything that you are doing to help educate the general public about alternative methods for health & wellness keep it up cheers !!!!
