Pain Relief

I Was Stunned And So Was the Audience… (Tapping for Seizures)

Written by: Nick Ortner

Whenever I speak publicly and demonstrate EFT Tapping with a live audience, I usually start by showing how to use Tapping for pain relief – not only because there’s always (unfortunately) people in pain in the audience, but also because it’s so concrete.

You KNOW when you’re in pain and you KNOW when it’s gone!

I also demonstrate with pain relief because what I’ve seen in the last decade as it relates to relieving pain is simply extraordinary.

30 years of chronic back pain… fibromyalgia… a fractured L1 with titanium rods and screws… 11 years of chronic migraines… and much more, have all been cleared completely and permanently (to never return), using Tapping.

Tapping for SeizuresI know that in the 20-30 minutes I usually have to demonstrate the technique, we’re likely to get some great results. And that’s exactly what happened in Sydney in front of 1,500 people.

I brought up three courageous women, we tapped together on the physical pain, exploring emotional connections, exploring feelings of self-worth and deservingness, and the results were, as always, extraordinary.

For all three women, the pain shifted dramatically. (In fact, I heard from one of them the next morning that she hadn’t needed any pain relieving medication that day, for the first time in years…)

So I was happy with the outcome, the audience was excited about the shifts they had witnessed and experienced themselves, and I was getting ready to close up the presentation.

I had about ten minutes left before my time was up, so I figured I’d spend that time hearing from people in the audience as to what results they had experienced as they tapped along with the women on stage.

Tapping for Seizures?

One lady stood up and started speaking, “I’m here with my friend Stephanie (Stephanie then stood up), who is 21 years old and has been suffering from seizures the past several months. One of the side effects of the seizures is that something happens to her vocal cords and she can’t speak. So can you tap with her to help her speak?”

I was, to put it mildly, a little overwhelmed by the request! I was thinking to myself, “There are ten minutes left in the presentation and you want to see if Tapping can help your friend speak??? Yes, I’ve seen extraordinary things happen with EFT, but this seems a little crazy!”

But something inside told me to give this a shot, so I asked the audience if they were willing to stay into lunch a little longer if we didn’t get it done in 10 minutes and when they agreed, I said, “Let’s go for it!”

Stephanie comes up on stage with her two friends joining her for moral support, and they sit on the couch together.

In order to get some idea as to where to go with this, I ask Stephanie a few questions, and she writes down the answer on a piece of paper. When I say she couldn’t speak, I mean, not a single sound. It’s not like she whispered or had a sore throat when she went to vocalize words, nothing happened.

So we began tapping, with me using my intuition to come up with the phrasing for Stephanie, and with Stephanie, since she couldn’t vocalize, thinking the words in her head.

(I often get asked, “Can you do the tapping in your mind, and not vocalize the words?” I think this result definitively answers that question, as you’ll see in a minute!)

After several rounds of tapping, I asked her a question and she, to the delight of the audience and myself, squeaked out a “No”. I couldn’t believe it! She spoke a word! Her friends were stunned, she was stunned, 1,500 were stunned and we were all excited for more!

We continued doing several more tapping rounds and when I checked back in with her again, she SPOKE! And not just a word or two, full sentences as if nothing had ever happened.

Now we were all REALLY stunned. I asked her what happened, to tell us more about what was going on and she said that last time she had had a seizure and hadn’t been able to speak, it had taken her weeks to regain her voice.

Now, in a matter of minutes, it was back. She described how she could feel the muscles in her throat and neck relaxing completely, and thus she was able to speak.

You must watch the entire video segment below. It’s amazing!

She was delighted with the results, her friends were in shock, and the audience gave her a rousing round of applause!

Stephanie came up and gave me a hug later on at the book signing, and shared her enthusiasm to continue using Tapping, not just for any potential problems with her voice, but to see if she could use it to stop the seizures and heal whatever was going on there.

My response to her… “Based on what I saw today, anything is possible!”

Thank you, Stephanie, for your courage (and to everyone else who came on stage). Thank you Australia for your welcoming embrace and thank you to Tapping for being such a miraculous tool!

Hi Nick, am a great fan of yours and get all your emails . When will you make it down here to New Zealand to give a performance , as I would definitely come to it and would love ( as well as your many fans down here ) to see you in person?. By the way my daughter and I are great Wayne Dyer fans and we were at his very last ( and his only one ) show here in Auckland just before he died a few days later in Maui. This was not a scheduled show on his Australian itinerary , he felt compelled to come here and we were so privileged to beable to see him. Please consider coming down here sometime – when your busy schedule allows you !! Pippi

Hi – I have a tactical question on tapping? So we start with the eyebrow point and end it with the crown??? Is that correct? Secondly, when we start with the set up statement on the karate chop point, do we tap with the two fingertips or do we tap with the other side of the palm on KC? Thirdly, are we supposed to do the final sealing activity only after we have done atleast three rounds of tapping sequence on the same issue to seal it or do we do that once after every single round of tapping sequence? Kindly clarify as I have been using taping effectively but somehow got thoroughly confused this time. Also I have been getting this spinning dizziness spell a lot and it’s not going away with tapping… don’t know if I am not following the sequence right ? Also if I want to learn it properly with an instructor can you recommend someone really good in Delhi/ india or someone online who could teach properly and maybe I could get a certification too.

Hi Deebba! This may help answer most of your questions about Tapping: Tapping 101

Tapping itself isn’t all that technical. Most of the way I teach it is to simply build consistency so that it can easily be repeated. The number of times you tap, the number of rounds, how many fingers, etc. is really all up to the individual. What’s really key is that you actually tap on the specific points and that you connect with your emotions.

That’s so great to hear, Joanne. We have plenty of free resources available, and of course, once you learn how to tap, you can simply use your own words and intuition to heal. 🙂

  4. Lana says:

  5. Gena says:

ps. My instantaneous response has been, “I don’t know anything!” and shutdown! Thank you, Nick.

  6. Gena says:

    Nick,
I have been looking at an old video of yours from 2012. “Use EFT To Clear Patterns of Self-Sabotage” on youtube. I need help and have been sabotaging myself for months!
Long story short, I easily get all the material for the book I am writing (I am clairaudient) and after getting enough material for many books, whenever I have tried to “put it all together” (as in editing, composition for the first one), I find “I can’t!” and have successfully been freaking myself out for months and I am seriously painting myself in a corner. I have used every distraction known to man. I need to tap it out but so far, not successful in this. Open to your input. Thank you.

    • Nick Ortner says:

I hear you, Gena! Writing and publishing a book can be such a long process and it can be easy to get stumped. For self-sabotage, here’s what I often recommend people look at first. Ask yourself if you are afraid to fail, then write down all the things that could go wrong if you believe you will fail. Then ask yourself, am I afraid to SUCCEED? For many, succeeding in an endeavor often brings about change, sometimes very scary changes like being widely recognized. If there is a subconscious block of “I don’t know anything”, or something of the like, self-sabotage is the result because your mind believes it to be safer if you don’t put yourself out there for people to ask you questions.

  7. Robert says:

Hello, I have a vertigo problem I would like to try it with tapping to see if it will work. Please send me the wording so I can try and fix my problem thank you.

    • Nick Ortner says:

Hi Robert! While we don’t have a specific script for vertigo, I’d recommend looking into what seems out of balance in your life or if there is any scattered thinking of issues. Often our bodies will mimic our patterns of thought and manifest into a physical issue. 🙂

  8. Kellie says:

That was amazing! Miraculous! I am so curious about the power of the audience doing it along with her and how that may have impacted the result!? Possibly accelerating it? Certainly a tough thing to measure but so curious! Tapping is an incredible, simple, free, do it yourself tool! So excited to see it continue to astound us and teach us what it is capable of! There is surely more! Gratitude for your diligence, study, time, efforts, belief in it and in the “more” in it! We get to see and experience these results because of all that work! Thank you! 😉

    • Nick Ortner says:

That certainly is a great question, Kellie. I’ve been asked many times if audience participation helps, and I would have to say yes. Studies have been done on large groups of meditators significantly influencing the attitudes of an entire city. I think groups of tappers would have a similar effect, especially when all intentions are on a single person. 🙂

  9. Christine says:

    Stunning! Absolutely stunning.

  10. Tara Little Bear says:

Thank you Nick!! I decided to tap along with the video to help my neck and shoulder muscles. I was in a car accident 5 months ago and am still struggling with neck, shoulder, and back pain along with a traumatic brain injury. After tapping the pain in my muscles has significantly decreased. Maybe it’s time to tap for my brain!!

  11. Theresa says:

    Hi Nick,

I would like to know if tapping would help my Mom. She is suffering from extreme panic attacks along with her COPD.
She has stopped everything that she enjoys and never leaves her home now. I would love to find her some relief. Mom is 74.

    Thank You

    Theresa

  12. Brenda says:

  13. Nancy says:

Wow!!! Amazing. I’m excited and encouraged to try this out for even big things. I’ve seen results but I’ve only done it for headache so far. This is such a leap. It’s such a boost to my faith in Tapping.
    Thanks Nick

  14. Frannie says:

this is so wonderful ! woo hoo !

  15. Barbara Alaimo says:

I was tapping along because I have been feeling sad and overwhelmed with events in my life. I just couldn’t seem to get passed those feelings.
I am feeling a lot freer right now. Thank you Nick! God bless Stephanie.

  16. Pietro Seni says:

I was tapping for low back pain for several months with no results, pain still is present

    • Nick Ortner says:

Hi Pietro. We are sorry to hear you are still experiencing pain. We recommend you get as specific as possible about what you are feeling and experiencing in your body and what emotions you are feeling in order to help to create a shift. Remember to stay hydrated as well as that can help move the energy around. Tapping on what was happening around the time the pain started can help. And if you have felt a similar sensation previously in your life, tapping on that situation can help you release the emotional trauma behind the pain. If you aren’t finding tapping to be as effective as you would like on your own, it may help to work one-on-one with a practitioner who can help you take a look at different aspects of the issue you are dealing with. If you are interested in doing that, here is a link to practitioner listings from our site: https://thetappingsolution.com/eft-practitioners. We hope that helps. 🙂

  17. Vad says:

    Thank you for sharing.
