Pain Relief

Have You Ever Felt Like You Didn’t Fit In?

Written by: Nick Ortner

Have you ever felt like you didn’t fit in? Or that you weren’t enough?

Maybe you felt rejected by your mother, father, or other family member, by friends or even by complete strangers, and felt the hurt of that deep inside?

If so, (and if not, I may be writing this post to a being from another planet!) I want to share an extremely moving and powerful video with you that was filmed during one of our Tapping Experience live events. In this video, you’ll get to watch and tap along as I work with Joanne on stage.

Joanne, like all of the other participants, came to get relief from physical pain. But as you’ll see in the video, whenever we tap on any issue, whether it be physical pain, weight, finances, relationships, or anything else, the core of the issues tend to go much deeper than just one topic.

Before you watch the video, I have two warnings for you:

#1 – This video is very moving, so have a tissue box ready. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house at the event during this, especially with what happens at the end. I won’t spoil what happens – you’ll want to see this for yourself.

#2 – I know that some people are offended by strong language. There is one point in the clip where both Joanne and I swear, not just for the sake of it, but with a very specific purpose as you’ll see. I just thought I would warn you so that you are prepared and not offended (and in case kids are in the room!). 🙂

Click on the video below to watch now. And after you watch, please leave your comments of support for Joanne and what insights you gained from watching this. She was extremely courageous for getting up on stage and sharing her story. I hope that her courage inspires you as well.

If you’d like some relief from pain (both physical and emotional) then I highly recommend you check out our Tapping Solution App!

With over 150 meditations to choose from across 15 different categories (and counting!), there’s something in there for everyone. 🙂

Until next time…

Keep Tapping!

Nick Ortner

Bravo! Yours is not an uncommon story so I am sure a lot of people resonated with it. I know I did.

  2. Miriam says:

WOW! Joanne, you showed such COURAGE. I’m new to the tapping and have been nervous about even trying it in the privacy of my own home. I hesitant to even want to tap in a session with my psychiatrist. But YOU…you said to me there are no more excuses. If you can bare all those childhood hurts in front of complete strangers through tapping, then I can certainly give tapping a try! I saw the transformation in your level of self confidence and self love and courage. Thank you for being brave!

  3. Marjorie says:

    Dear Joanne
I can relate to all that you have been through and I am going to watch this again and start my healing process with my Dad. How appropriate that I am watching this today as it is Fathers Day here today June 21. Thank you for being so courageous up there on that platform. I don’t think I would be able to bare my soul as you have. You are a very beautiful woman . I am excited for you as you continue your journey with tapping. Thank you Nick and Jessica and all the EFT people who help us all. I wish I could give you all a big hug.

  4. Margaret says:

    – what a beautiful outcome – what a brave lady, what a compassionate and healing pair of brothers with an audience (including the two ladies on stage) which will perhaps never forget this experience or the potential power of tapping. We were privileged to be given access to it all. Thank you.

  5. Carol Santure says:

My relationship with my father was similar but not as intense as yours and I did come to grips with it years ago. I am 80 now. One thing that stood out in watching you was the physical transformation. You became a different person on the outside as well as the inside. You had your hair hanging down across your face and during the tapping you began to brush it back and at the end your hair was no longer on your face. You became beautiful and color in your face was glowing; your smile was genuine and it was noticeably bigger. You were beaming and relaxed and not nervous as in the beginning.
I am very happy for you and wish you continued success.

  6. Trisha says:

Joanne, that was truly transformational thank you for taking us on this journey and being so authentic, when I saw you in the clip at the end you truly shone and in that moment I thought your eyes were really beautiful and they somehow seemed different before. Go forward and shine your light, pretty woman! Nick you are amazing.

  7. noemi says:

it is amazing to watch !!!! i am sending it to my clients. all my love and appriciation to NICK!

  8. Janice says:

You are good enough. I’ve been through the same in my childhood. My parents have always favored my sister over me, still till this day and I’m 48 years old. I just said that same thing to my father today and it felt good! Your father was wrong for doing that, I feel your pain.

  9. Nicki Kelly says:

I really loved this – seeing her come out and take her power back. I’m just reading your book and doing tapping. I have a lot of things to tap on. As a I read I make notes. Seeing Joanne come out and take care of this is such a wonderful example for me. I was abused at home and by the kids at school so growing up was really miserable and sometimes I am so angry. I tapped on an issue this morning regarding being angry over being mistreated by the kids at school – they’re still the same in my home town and I talked to an old friend and a lot of those old feelings came back up. I have a lot to tap on but it works!!! I’m so thankful that I found The Tapping Solution – it has worked every time I use it. Thank you.

  10. Eiko says:

Thank you Nick and Alex…was inspiring to wach this amazing heal!!! Take care and keep tapping!!!

  11. Heather says:

Thank you for your courage to speak your fears and dance on stage. You are special in all the world and no one holds the key to your happiness but you.

I go out dancing often, not ballroom, but I go to enjoy myself. My enjoyment of the experience comes from the freedom of movement and the joy I feel inside. If someone asks me to dance, great, but I don’t need a dance partner to have fun being me. I just smile and twirl…this was a brave move for me…going out by myself…and well worth it. We are enough!!!

  12. Marie Chasse says:

This was SO transformational and beautiful to observe. A true miracle for this courageous, wonderful woman who had more guts than I would have had. Kudos to her and I’m happy to see her take charge of her life and take her power back gradually.

  13. Barbara says:

Very powerful and it hit home for me. Thank you both for your contribution. EFT techniques are very effective in setting people free and I’m so thankful to have watched the 2015 Tapping Summit and for having the collection to work on various areas in my life. Sending loving thoughts for continued healing, Joanne.

  14. Renate says:

wonderful! Thanks for sharing Joanne, thank you for teaching tapping Nick

  15. Marlene says:

Brings tears to my eyes.I know tapping works.

  16. Koleen says:

I’m smiling through my tears. Joanne, you are beautiful & brave. We all seem to have so much pain in one form or another. Nick, Jessica, Alex…you are transforming us. Thank you.

  17. Kelly says:

awesome tapping, found it really releasing. thank you

  18. Dee says:

Thank you, Joanne, for sharing your story; and to Nick, for making this video available. This has helped me. I tapped along while watching it.

  19. Roylyn Nielson says:

Thank you for your courage. I tapped and cried along with you (having similar issues
of a middle child). Your strength inspires me! I love Nick Ortner too!!!!!
    Tap On!

  20. lynne says:

Wow! I am not sure how to start…taking a quick tapping break to tap on the apprehension and anxiety that I am feeling so that when I say thank you to you Joanne and to you Nick that the words I write will hopefully convey the overwhelming gratitude I am feeling.

I dont know why while on you tube I choose to watch one of Nicks video’s on tapping to relive stress, but I did. Yes, I was intrigued. So intrigued I bought your book “The tapping Solution”

I started reading and tapping and tapping and tapping..still feeling stressed, feeling separate not even sure why….do more tapping…I though to myself, “could someone get brain damage from this much tapping”…still feeling stressed and separate….do more tapping and tapping. That’s right I am not a quitter, brain damaged maybe but not a quitter.

Then a link to watch the video “Nick taps with Joanne” showed up in my email in box and I though I could use some pain relief. I watched mesmerized. Tears streaming down my face. What courage you showed Joanne. What compassion you showed Nick. What raw emotion. I stated to cry, sobbing really. I started tapping along with you, speaking the same words. I realized I was not saying father but mother.

Nick when you asked Joanne if her pinky toe could forgive her father, I felt a wave of energy hit me. I had broken my pinky toe months before and although the bone had heeled it always felt like pins and needles. A nagging little annoyance, an off balanced feeling that I was aware of with every step I took.

My pinky toe started to burn, really really burn. That’s when my flash back occurred, a miracle really.

Flashback – I am 8 maybe 9 and my grandfather just died. My little sister crying in her room and is being consoled by my mother who was also crying. When I went to join them, my mother put up her hand and yelled at me to get out. “your sister grandfather just died, she is sad now get out and leave us alone” I stood there for the longest time not able to move. My mother got up and closed the bedroom door leaving me standing alone in the hallway.

meanwhile, pinky toe is burning so much, it feels like it is going to spontaneously combust.

You speak for Joanne’s pinky toe and it says “dad @#% you”, In that moment I was able to visualize myself as a little girl opening the bedroom door and heard my pinky toe screaming the same to mother. “Mom @#$% you, @#$% you, I am worth including. Then as if by magic the feeling came back in my pinky toe.

And there it was, glorious insight, my moment of clarity. The awareness that subconsciously I have use that moment of feeling separate as the blue print for my adult life, right down to where my husband and I have built our home, a self contained solar powered house standing all alone in the middle of the Canadian wilderness, 65 KM from the nearest town, 20 Km from our nearest neighbor. Cities, Provinces and even Countries separating me from my mother and siblings.

I have had great success tapping, less stress and wonderful moments of clarity and insight. I feel like I finally have both of my feet planted firmly on the ground and balance in my life.

Thank you Joanne, thank you for helping me see the moment that began my cyclic pattern of feeling separate and alone. Thank you Nick, thank you for showing me how to tap away childhood pain and subconscious limiting beliefs.

From the bottom of my now wide open heart Thank you!

    Pinky toe says “Thanks Eh”

  21. Joanjo says:

    Amazing! Thank you very much!

  22. Anneliese says:

Dear Joanne, you are great, you had the courage to start, to get things rolling, that is not only an experience for you but also for all of us who were allowed to watch!
There is not only physical pain to release that is measurable (1-10) and makes you feel better (you can dance painlessly and lighter) but emotionally you feel better/lighter as well. You will peel off layers of experiences, compounded events which will provide a new outlook on live for you. You will be less scared and have more courage to do things.
You were sharing with us also ‘to live in the present’, thank you for that valuable comment, there is no time to worry about future events any more! “It is s a f e now!
Keep tapping, it will be like a rebirthing, painful but glorious, i guess.
Wishing you lots of strength in managing it. Lots of Love anneliese

  23. Rana says:

    Joanne my dear,
Thank you. Thank you so much for your courage and willingness to be vulnerable, for sharing this experience with us. It’s so moving, and so inspiring. It helped me see how some of the pain and anger I have from my family/father may be something I need to acknowledge and tap on. I too have these “mysterious” pains in my body that no doctor seems to be able to find a reason for. Im new to tapping, and so this really helped me.

My wish is for the utmost in healing and peace for you, and a big HUG!

  24. Elizabeth says:

Joanne. Im so grateful that you shared this experience! You have incredible courage and strength. I love you. Thank you to Nick and The Tapping Team!!!

  25. Mercy Joy says:

Joanne you are worthy of love and acceptance. You are far bigger than you think. Lucky you had Nick to give you a foretaste of what you are worth. Keep tapping.

  26. Maria says:

Congratulations Joanne on your way to healing!
I hope that this video helps others like you out there. I totally get you and is very sad that out childhood traumas affect us all through our adult lives. We make decisions in our lives that have serious consequences which we later regret due to traumas.

  27. Charlie says:

    Well done, Joanne! 🙂

  28. jo short says:

I watched as you transformed yourself and indentified with your feelings of not being chosen and so joined in with your tapping and gained some success on my issues as well as feeling overjoyed for you when you stood up ans danced with Alex. Good luck on your onward tapping journey and thank you for sharing your story.

  29. Sharon says:

    Thank you Nick and Joanne,

That was very powerful and helpful for me to watch and particpate with. Thank you for all you give and do. – Sharon

  30. Laura says:

It is so comforting to know that even though the feelings have been there for years, you can liberate yourself. Well done Joanne, you are a courageous and lovely lady.

  31. Pierrette Lavigne says:

I believe that her “fuck you dad” sums it all. It brought back memories of 65 years ago when I was invited for a small party, and people had found a blind date for me only to have it stolen from me the moment he stepped in the house. I remember the humiliation of making it believe that I did not care and I ran out of the house 10 minutes later. I should have known the words “fuck you” It would have helped me!!!! I am now 80 and I still remember this evening. Bad souvenirs linger longer than nice souvenirs. Thank you for showing me that I am not alone.

  32. Lady Jay says:

I am SO happy for you Joanne ! For me it was my Mom & my right pinky toe still wants to kick her. I’m ok on the outside & can usually function like an average old lady . When I watched this I tapped right along as I fell apart. I just don’t think there’s any hope for me but I am really very happy for you. Sending hugs !

  33. Janice says:

    Hi Nick & Joanne,

After a computer virus attack and a physical cold-flu attack, I just watched the tapping vid.
My heart goes out to Joanne. She accomplished so much in that length of time.

I was so touched how she went from that little child victim to a confidence woman.

I am praying for you Joanne. You will conquer all those obstacles and be that very strong woman whom you really are. Life is waiting on the real you.

    Be Strong*

    Thank you, Nick

    Happy New Year!!!

  34. Pam says:

Yesterday, I tapped along with this video, using my own feelings, words and experiences and I had the most incredible experience!! When I got in public places I felt like dancing! I was so happy and filled with joy, Thank you Nick for bringing this video free of charge to the public. YOU are awesome.

  35. Pam says:

Just watching her body stop trembling was amazing! This is a GREAT video, teaching us that there is more to tapping than just a few words or tapping a few times. Sometimes it takes more to get to the root of the problem to get relief.

  36. Scott says:

Joanne, Thank you for having the courage to be vulnerable and face your pain and anger. You are a truly brave person and very deserving of the love and acceptance of all the people that are and have been a part of your life. You have helped me to face and release more of the deep seated anger and embarrassment I have internalized from feeling and believing I was not good enough. I too was picked last in sports games, left out at dances and felt not loved as much as my younger sister was. I believe in you and your ability to love yourself, begin to forgive others and yourself, and move forward with your healing. I wish you much love and well-being. Thanks for risking yourself for you helped me and I am sure many others in doing so!

  37. Lise says:

You were amazing, Joanne ! Thank you so much for mustering the courage to go through with it all, even when you were obviously scared and insecure about yourself. I know that having watched what you just did will help me get through the trauma of having been in a 27-year relationship with a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hide person. Right now I don’t know exactly how to start working on all the issues that are there inside my body and mind, but I will succeed, that’s for sure. Tapping, dancing, smiling. Thank you, Joanne <3

  38. Edith says:

    What a wonderful tapping session…
I haven’t read The Tapping Solution yet, but I’m looking forward to it!

Joanne, thank you so much for fiving us the chance to see your beautiful transformation… You are very brave…You showed us your aching, your vulnerability and I’m sure many people could relate with your experience.

    Thank you,

Sending you Love in your journey to healing with EFT. and a big HUG!

  39. Lise Rodrigue says:

How very à propos for me at this time to see Joanne being so inspiringly brave. Thank you for sharing this.

I am working on my own sense of unworthiness, both by tapping and in therapy, but Joanne’s share has helped me dig deeper into this issue around my own father.

    Thank you again

    Lise R.

  40. Denise says:

Joanne, you are a wonderful strong person. Thank you for allowing all of us to share in this portion of your journey. Nick, you are a blessing to those of us who have found you and have read your Tapping Solutions book as well as practice what you are teaching us. Alex that was a wonderful dance which was the icing on the cake for Joanne. I thank the 3 of you for sharing this experience; all experiences touch and help us

  41. Ingrid says:

Joanne thank you for your courage and baring your soul. It reminded me of my Mom and me and I felt the same way as you> I am thankful I had the opportunity to tell her about my feelings later on in life and we managed to resolve our issues and to forgive before she passed on. Thank you Nick, Jessica and Alex for the wonderful work you do> God Bless

  42. Carole Sue Conran says:

Thank you Joanne for having the courage and Nick & Alex for your compassion and knowledge of Tapping to help Joanne help herself to move forward and dance with a smile on her face. Keep dancing with all that white light and energy around & inside of you Joanne.

You danced beautifully too Nick in how you orchestrated your dance with Joanne throughout the Tapping process. Yes, I cried at the end, and helped me to know that my future will be happier too in letting go of my own alcoholic father’s behavior, verbal abuse and how it has affected me and relationships with men in the past.

With gratitude and appreciation, Carole Sue.

  43. Arlene says:

OMG this was so hard to listen to. This is so how I feel. The last one picked for everything. I am not the best at anything. I was never the best friend that someone wanted to make sure they kept in touch with for ever, I always feel like I am the one trying to keep in touch with them. I see them keeping up with other friends and feel rejected even more. I hope know your NOT alone!! Please be brave!!

  44. cc says:

Joanne, you are a wonderful person who has much much to offer. Many hugs!

  45. Palmira Baltazar says:

Estou a acreditar cada vez mais neste método!! Trabalhar as nossas emoções,resulta de fato!!

  46. says:

I was in awe that she empowered herself to be vulnerable and heal so much right there.

  47. Nicole says:

Brave indeed! I totally related. Similar situation except that my issues are abandonment. My father passed when I was only 9 and the rest of her life, my mother made sure to tell me over and over that was never good enough, never smart and never pretty enough. I hope some day that I can dance too and release the anger and the feeling of unworthiness. Keep on dancing Joanne!

  48. javier lopez says:

  49. Alis says:

I managed not to cry until the end and the music started – I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t watched it. Tapping has become an every day necessity for me and is endlessly miraculous.

P.S Alex Ortner – will you marry me 🙂

  50. stacieflint says:

SO wonderful and transformative to me as well, with my own issues. and yes, I cried at the end, it was so beautiful to watch this woman’s dream come true, to see that it can happen, that mine can also happen. Thank you.
