Can you remember those “simpler times” in your life?

Written by: Nick Ortner

I’ve watched this video all the way through twice in the past week. Once on my own, and then I showed it to a few friends.

It’s made me laugh, and at the same time get a little teary-eyed (especially at the end). I saw the same reaction from my friends.

I’ve wondered since watching it why it moved us so… and I think it’s a combination of bringing us back to times that perhaps seemed simpler (even if that’s just a memory and not an actual fact!) and of the incredible power of music in our lives.

Make sure to watch the video until the end, the last 5 minutes are magical.

And if you’ve seen it already, it’s worth another watch, while asking yourself:

“What is it about this video that strikes such a chord within my heart?”

“How can I evoke these positive feelings in my life more often?”

Comment below the video and let me know.

Until next time,

Keep Tapping!

Nick Ortner

Thank you so much Nick for sharing such a powerfully nostalgic video. , I was zoomed back into much gentler/peaceful times. Towards the end I was struck by the coming together of so many that the union left me in tears of happiness and joy, and the knowledge of how powerful music and people are when we come together! Thanks to all for this video. Love, peace and blessings xxx

Truly AWESOME!!! I grew up in Liverpool and loved running up to the Main Road when the Beatles returned from tours and would ride around Liverpool in an open top double decker bus to greet their home fans who always welcomed them home. I rented a room in a house on Penny Lane when I was 17 for a short time. The video brought back a flood of memories. Thanks for sharing this.
    Best wishes
    Janet

This video made me reminisce about my childhood and how simple Life seemed back then ( I’m only 33 ?). I never thought I was a Beatles fan but I felt something listening to the songs! I think it was the positivity of them. Loved this sooo much.

  11. Linda Hertzog says:

Thank you soooo much. This video made me feel like I was back in the 60’s and took away all the BS that’s going on in the world today. The feeling was so fantastic I am going to watch it again!!

It is such a great video! Funny thing is, my husband showed me this exact video 3 or 4 days ago! Synchronicity!

    Thanks for that!

  15. Sandra says:

What I experienced is Paul’s heart sings through him, as him, and everyone listening’s hearts then sing with him. It is a Oneness Experience. So of course there is emotion and tears.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

  16. Theresa Currie-Criss says:

It did not bring me back to a specific time in my life but I did reflect on my life’s journey and gave thanks for my blessings. I also thought about how important it is to ‘just keep moving I’m. Great video!

  17. Colin Appleyard says:

Fantastic. I had tears also. What nostalgia. I am minded of one of my jokes (being humorous keeps you young) in that under this new law (effective 01/2019) currently being ratified in Beijing (China) – if you are born on the same day and same year as someone famous that is rich, you can claim up to 10% of their fortune. Unfortunately I miss out by one day as I was born on the 17 June 1942 and Paul was the 18 June 1942. Watching that video several times is truly inspirational. Thank you Nick for sharing.

  18. Cheryl Hedges says:

    Awesome!!
I was a bit young to ever be a huge fan of the Beatles, but seeing this video maybe I should change my mind.

  19. Kathy Krug says:

Thanks for sharing! Loved it! What a way to transport the mind to some fun times!

  20. Sari says:

Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. lots of tears of happiness

  21. Ginny says:

Wow what a blast from the past. After a few minutes the feet started ‘tapping’ then the hands, followed by a joy-filled state and release of greatfulness and light heartedness. Paul was always my favorite event thought I was not permitted to watch them early on ‘too young”
    LOL thanks for the fix!

  22. Janet Kizziar says:

Thanks so much for this, Nick! It brought back so many memories and truly touched my heart !?

  23. Val Taylor says:

Songs remind of days gone by when life was much simpler.

  24. Linda Navarro says:

Thank you so much for sharing such great video! It got me so emotional as it brought back the hands of time. Im a Beatle fan and seeing Paul sing those songs again made me teary-eyed cos no band has created such a great impact on me than the Beatles! Appreciate you sharing this video. ??????

  25. Trisha says:

Lost my husband of 60 years a few months ago, and this video brought back our young years when we danced and sang to Hey Jude. So happy and so sad!

  26. Robyn says:

    Nick,

I’m sending you a virtual hug! I began my day singing along with everyone in the pub and I might just end the day that way too with my hubby by my side. It doesn’t get better than that!(Though we’ve never met, I’m waving to you, neighbor, from Fairfield?)

  27. debra says:

Video does not load… If I where to look for it on YouTube.. what would the title be?

  28. Grace says:

What makes this so special is Paul’s and James’ shared humanity. We all resonate with that fundamental joy in being human. How beautiful that Paul’s incredibly gifted lyrics, voice, rhythm and songwriting bring us back to ourselves, where the love is, where the feeling is, where the gratitude is, and where we notice with simple observation how human life is. His gift of awareness in ordinary life mirrors that same gift of awareness in us all, and we recognize ourselves in him and his music. James is so radically honest and genuine and makes an unforgettable experience of his Karpool for us. Thank you Nick for sharing, bless you from my heart.?

  29. Dan says:

Thank you for sharing this in the context of The Tapping Solution and people looking for healing. Very moving watching Paul lovingly integrate with the people and the places of his youth. Discussing how Let It Be originated. His mother. The “healing” and bringing people together has always been so much of what he stands for. So many iconic sing along songs he has written and performed. We’ve all sung ’em plenty of times. He has had difficult loss and persevered. Just great to see, and the enthusiasm of the must younger host reflects just how timeless this message will always be.

  30. Nyleta says:

Fantastic to watch after all these years…. great sing along music, any time, any place. Thanks for the memories and bringing this to our attention in Australia.
    love from Down Under…..

  31. Kris Shugars says:

I smiled, I laughed, I cried! The singing was fun and reminded me of being a teenager and driving around with my friends, priceless. The thing that really moved me is how authentic and kind Paul was with the people on the street, truly lovely ❤️. Thanks for sharing Nick!

  32. Anne says:

    Love it!!! Thanks Nick

  33. Maggie says:

I was crying when it finished! It was different days then. I, too, have received the guidance to “Let it Be.” Now, this is where I am…from another Beatle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgkThdzX-8

  34. Catherine says:

Berkeley. The ’60’s. In my early twenties. A dive called the Steppenwolf. Young college people. Beer. Wine. Chess. Classical Music every night. Jeans. T Shirts. Beards. Long hair. I watched a tall thin man wearing a suit walk to the bar. He showed an album to the bartender who frowned and shook his head no. I watched the tall man go back two more times in an hour until the bartender sighed, shrugged and played the album. The Beatles? Here in the Steppenwolf? Half the folks got up and left. The other half? They cheered and danced. Every night, every night afterward at 10 pm, the chess pieces were packed away and we danced to the Beatles, to Jefferson Airplane, to Cream and all the others. The place, always packed. We danced wherever we could find room, the tables, the chairs, the Bar! Happy!! Every night! Thank you so much for this…Happy Tears!

  35. Mary says:

I was totally in the present enjoying every minute, putting positive and happy thoughts into my day. I will probably listen again before the day is over. Thank you

  36. Kathy Isabelle says:

The most treasured video I have ever seen! Moved me to tears. My husband and I were just playing abby road the other day and loving every moment of it.

  37. Cherylrose says:

I was a Beatles fan from the beginning when they came to the US. Sooo many memories came up as well as nostalgic tears. Mostly because of the loss of heart I have felt lately compared with the joy and promise of my youth. Great show!

  38. Lisa Marie Runfola says:

Perfect Timing! Thank you for writing and posting this. I took 23 minutes out of my day to re-inspire myself. I am in the thick of Book Edits and need to meet my deadline. Your Blog post and this Video reminded me how very important my message is to get out into the world. Even if it just touches ONE person. It is so wonderful to see how Paul has inspired the world with his talent. Thank you so much Nick.

  39. Mary says:

What a great way to begin my day – laughter, happy tears and memory lane. Thanks for this wonderful ride.

  40. Andreaé Snee says:

? Music is said to be the language of feeling and passion, food for our soul and how better to showcase this with not only a true music legend but having over half a century behind him and still performing. This was a magical, mystery tour so thank you Nick for sharing a slice of feel good, sweet memories ❤️

  41. Dawn says:

    My face hurts from smiling!

  42. Isabelle R. says:

A big thank you Nick, Paul and the Beatles started when I was twelve and thanks to the group I learned English -I’m French- and I’m so grateful , they (and the Rolling Stones !) made me what I am today :a retired Happy English teacher. Thanks again , Love <3

  43. Carolyn says:

This video was sooo much FUN, I la Thanks for sharing thisughed and cried a little as it made me think of my mum, she loved the Beatles and it also took me back to my teenage years especially ‘Hey Jude’.

  44. Erica says:

Thank you, Nick! I appreciate the emails you have sent over the years and the inspiration you have provided for so many people to make serious, positive changes in our lives! This video prompted me to cry several times as I watched people be moved by the music. Music taps into our emotional centers much like aromas do – helping us to feel more alive, youthful, innocent. It reminds us of connections and longings, hope and loss. This video strikes a special chord because we see Paul McCartney, a giant in all of our musical memories, singing along and reminiscing just as we would. We are all human!

  45. Patricia Finney says:

Cried my eyes out, right the way through. I’m not entirely sure why. What a guy! Every song took me back to my childhood (though I deeply disapproved of “She loves you, yeah yeah yeah!” which I thought was silly. I preferred “Rock around the clock”) It’s an example of carefully organised spontaneity which worked brilliantly. Rock on, Sir Paul!

  46. Trayce says:

When I watched this for the first time I felt sad. Something about it felt final, almost like a goodbye.

  47. Joy Griffiths says:

Thanks for sharing Nick – it’s gone around my network a few times and yes, a few tears!!
I’m originally from Liverpool so it was very reminiscent for me, although sad to miss this impromptu gig in the Phil…my memory is of admiring my boyfriend’s rear view as he stood at the bar waiting to be served!!! We recently celebrated 40 years of marriage ?

  48. Carine Hoffelinck says:

So beautyfull ❤️Thank you for sharing this?

  49. Martha says:

This episode will go down in history

  50. Tina DeMarco says:

This was great. Took me back…The turbulent sixties…(the memories now keeps me sane.) If we made it through those times, we can make it through the goings on of these times. The music is timely and stil rocks! Thx for posting.

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE.They were and still are really pertinent. It has been the most important message of many Masters, Gourous and light entities; LOVE IS THE ANSWER.BUT not ordinary love,I mean, yes its ok and normal to love our friends, family, chidren, grand-parents, but there is an onconditionnal and Universal LOVE; the ONE that’s make us all in ONE; UNICITY. Also, one day, you’ll be treated the same way you treat others, one day, you’llbe judged as you judge others; that’s KARMA, a logical way to live and knowing that we’re not alone, NEVER. NAMASTÉ, en toute simplicité, Carmen Francoeur
