My Gift – Lesson 2: Tell Your Body What Happened

I hope you enjoyed the first lesson, where we looked to clean up some residual feelings about our parents, and make that the healthiest relationship possible. Remember, you can go back at anytime to that exercise and do it again! If you missed that email or want to revisit it, you can see it here:

Lesson 1: Let’s Talk Mom and Dad

Today I want to share with you a simple but powerfully effective approach to tapping that I think you might find useful.

I’ve found this approach to be extremely effective in cases of physical injuries and traumas, along with their associated mental, emotional, and spiritual effects. As always, don’t go where you don’t feel "safe". If something that happened to you is difficult to even think about, reach out to a trained EFT practitioner for help (you can find an extensive list of practitioners here: www.thetappingsolution.com/eft-practitioners)

So as your "target" or "MPI" to tap on, try to pick an accident from your past, a physical injury of some sort, something where your "body" was injured or struggled. Identify what it is you want to work on, and take a deep breath, feeling really grounded in your body. Feel your feet on the ground and just take a moment to sense how your body is feeling right now.

When you think of this injury, how does your body feel? What emotions surface? What tension, anxiety or stress shows up in your body? Where is it located exactly? If the accident or trauma is old and you can’t seem to connect with it too strongly, that’s OK, just do the best you can. If a lot of different feelings, emotions, ideas, come up, write them down so you can refer to them later.

Once you’ve connected with it, let’s do some tapping.

Karate Chop: Even though I’ve experienced this accident, my body is safe now…
Karate Chop: Even though this trauma was difficult for my body, I choose to let my body know it is safe right now…
Karate Chop: Even though part of my body is still holding on to the trauma of this accident, I chose to explain what happened, and let it go now…

Now tapping through the points, this is going to be where YOU tell your body what happened, almost as if you were talking to a six year old who just got hurt. As an example, I’m going to use an injury that I had when I was ten years old, fell off of a scooter going down a hill, and had a hairline fracture in the back of my skull! (And a nice concussion to go with it!)

(This will be an internal monologue discussion.)

Eyebrow: Dear body…
Side of the Eye: You’ve taken quite a knock!
Under the Eye: You were going down a hill and then the scooter lost control…
Under Nose: You were probably really frightened in that moment when you lost control…
Under Mouth: And felt shocked about what was going to happen…
Collarbone: And then something did happen, as you fell, hit your head, and did a couple of nice flips!
Under the Arm: I’m sure it was scary and shocking…
Top of the Head: But now all is well…

Eyebrow: The injury is over…
Side of the Eye: And it’s safe to let go of any fear or anxiety…
Under the Eye: It’s safe to release any residual tension from the accident…
Under Nose: And any places where energy might be stuck…
Under Mouth: It’s safe to relax again….
Collarbone: The accident is over…
Under the Arm: And everything is OK now…
Top of the Head: You are safe…

Eyebrow: Dear body…
Side of the Eye: I’m sorry you had this experience…
Under the Eye: I’m sorry that you were probably scared…
Under Nose: But all is well now…
Under Mouth: You have the ability to heal fully…
Collarbone: You can let go of any residual pain or trauma…
Under the Arm: And vibrate with healing, love and forgiveness…
Top of the Head: Letting go of all of this old trauma…

And then take a deep breath… and let it go…

You can do this for 5 minutes or 30 minutes; you can explain in vivid detail what happened and release it from your body, or you can just stay general. This is your process, for you to play with and see what results you get!

Until next time…

Keep Tapping!
